Montour Falls festival starts Thursday
MONTOUR FALLS--The Montour Falls Fire Department will hold its 60th annual Festival and Parade this weekend. The event will run Thursday through Saturday, June 9 through 11 and will take place at the fireman's field. Festival grounds open at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, while opening at noon Saturday. The event has free admission and features rides, games, food and live entertainment. There are several new features at this year's carnival, including a permanent covered band stage presented by the Cayuga Health System. There will also be new rides by Main Event Amusements, with Heavily Brewing Company serving craft beer. Also new is the fisherman's wharf, featuring clams and shrimp. Saturday's parade of bands will begin at 5 p.m. along Main Street. The following bands are scheduled to appear in the parade: the Montour Falls Fire Department Band, The Hitmen, Corning-Painted Post Marching Hawks, Caledonian Highlanders, Addison High Marching Band, Jasper-Troupsburg Marching Band, Canaseraga High Marching Band, Odessa-Montour Marching Band, Fairport Fire Department Band and the Appalachian Grenadiers Alumni Drumline. On stage, The Overrated will be performing hard rock, hip-hop and country from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday features Nik and the Nice Guys from 8 to 11 p.m. The Unusual Suspects will play from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, along with Devon Franks from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.
