Food and wine event comes to Clute Park

WATKINS GLEN—Clute Park in Watkins Glen will be host to a new event called the Seneca Lake Wine and Food.
The two-day festival devoted to area wineries and eateries is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3. Jeff Dill, owner of J.R. Dill Winery, is organizing it. Dill said as of now, there are 70 vendors scheduled to attend: 40 wineries and 30 eateries from all around Seneca Lake. Dill added the eateries include chocolatiers and cheese makers.
With the purchase of a ticket you will be able to sample wines and food from all of the nearby wineries and restaurants. While at the event people will be able make wine and food purchases. He added that vendors would be spread out and the bandstand would feature music.
The idea came a year and a half ago, Dill explained. He said he wanted to showcase the wineries and restaurants in the area. He explained he started talking with the village in May and together last October.
“We’re looking to bring in a new crowd,” said Dill. He said some people from Washington, D.C. have already bought tickets and a couple from Texas have called asking about it.
Tickets will cost $60 and are good for both days. For more, visit http://senecalakewineandfood.com.
