Watkins Glen will perform ‘Grease’

WATKINS GLEN—The Watkins Glen Class of 2013 will present “Grease” this Friday, March 22, through Sunday, March 24, at the Watkins Glen High School Auditorium.
In all, 50 students from freshmen to seniors have been rehearsing since January, immersing themselves in the 1950s with music, choreography, and costumes. The show is full of familiar songs such as “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightning,” and “We Go Together.” Leads include Brenton Whiting as Danny, with his Burger Palace Boys: Thomas Richtmyer, Billy Brennan, Kyle Hancharik and Braedan Fitch. Lydia Myers plays Sandy, with Pink Ladies: Morgan Atwood, Sarah LaMascus, Chelsea Kennard and Haley DeNardo.
Choreography was done by students Elise Groll, LaMascus, and Lydia Myers. Producer is Sam Brubaker. Michelle and Tim Benjamin of Montour Falls are directing, with Sarah Matthews as music director. The show is presented by the Watkins Glen High School Class of 2013.
As a special feature, any graduates of Watkins Glen High School —or of a “Grease” production at any school—are invited to join the cast onstage for the Rydell School Song at the start of the show. Just join the cast backstage when prompted by the announcer.
Times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, followed by a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday.  Tickets cost $7 for adults, and $5 for senior citizens and students.
