Milo has 11 watershed violations
MILO—Town Supervisor Leslie Church said she discovered there are 11 watershed violations during a meeting of the town board Monday, May 20. She said the watershed inspector had brought them to her attention earlier in the month after meeting with him, expressing unhappiness with the number of violations and summons have been issued to all 11 property owners. Church said due to the number of violations, they were not all able to be scheduled for court at one time. She said while one specific case was addressed as of Monday, the situation is ongoing as the town looks to remedy the situation. Church also said she and Town Clerk Patricia Christensen had received training on the Keuka Watershed Improvement Cooperative (KWIC) website. She said there was a lot she was not familiar with and confused about access. She said the system they have offers a good way to keep track of watershed inspections as well as the properties that are in violation. She said once access is increased for her, Christensen and Building, Code and Zoning Officer Tony Validzic, it will be used as a tool to keep track of the town’s watershed inspections. In other business: • The board scheduled a public hearing for a proposed fence law at their next regular meeting Monday, June 17 at 7 p.m. • The board declared grinder pump tanks as surplus and authorized their sale. • The town clerk and budget officer were approved to attend accounting training as a cost of $773 per person. • The board voted to sign an agreement with the village of Dundee recreational program in order to account for Milo residents who will be attending their program. • Church said she has had a meeting with members of the Finger Lakes Economic Development Council in order to open the communication and ensure the town is not left out of payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) discussions or public hearing notifications.
