Jerusalem proposes new address systemJERUSALEM—After two years of work the JerusalemProposed is official naming of two sections of Route 54A in the town. The section of the road from the Penn Yan village limits to the main intersection in Branchport would be named Penn Yan-Branchport Road and the section of the road from that intersection to the Yates/Steuben County line would be named Branchport West Lake Road. The numbering system was also addressed by the committee with a plan being introduced that would eliminate confusion that results from situations such as duplicate house numbering, multiple numbers that require addition of alpha lettering to differentiate locations and house numbering out of sequence along the same road. Two public information meetings have been scheduled at the Branchport/Keuka Park firehouse. The first is April 28 and the second May 5, both at 7 p.m. The town has scheduled a public hearing on the matter May 20 at a location to be determined. |
