Cook to run for Yates district attorney post

YATES COUNTY—Jason L. Cook, first assistant district attorney of Yates County, announced May 15 that he is a candidate for the office of Yates County district attorney. District Attorney Susan H. Lindenmuth had previously announced her intention to retire and to not seek reelection this fall. Lindenmuth was first elected Yates County District Attorney in 1995.
Cook has been an assistant district attorney for Yates County for seven years and for six of those years has been the first assistant district attorney. Cook previously served as assistant district attorney for Steuben County and as chief assistant district attorney for Schuyler County. Cook received his bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and his law degree from Dickinson School of Law.
He said, “I have spent my career as a prosecutor seeking justice for the community and I believe I have the experience and qualifications to be the next Yates County district attorney.”
Cook’s candidacy was recently endorsed by the New York State Police Investigator’s Association, which has over 1,200 members statewide.
