Scots fall in first night game
DUNDEE--The Dundee varsity football team lost a 6-0 contest in the school's first night football game Saturday, Oct. 8, against the Marcus Whitman Wildcats. The team falls to 1-5 on the season going into an away contest against Mynderse Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. The Wildcats got the first and only score of the game to take a 6-0 lead late in the first quarter on a 13-yard run, but a defensive struggle kept the score close throughout the first two quarters, making it the only score of the half. Whitman received the ball to start the second half, throwing an interception to Ryan Prior who returned the ball to the Marcus Whitman 23-yard line. However, the Scots turned the ball over on a fumbled pitch the next play. Whitman drove to the Dundee 13-yard line, but turned the ball over on downs after a stand by the Dundee defense. The third quarter went without a score. Another punt put the Wildcats at their own 23-yard line, but the Scots recovered a fumble on the next play to take over possession. Each team swapped possession several times without any touchdowns. The Wildcats took possession of the ball with five minutes left in the game and proceeded to shave time off of the clock, securing their one-score 6-0 victory over the Scots.
