SPORTS RECAP: Week of 6/14/17

Schuyler runners compete at state meet
The Senecas' Patrick Hazlitt took first in Division 2, and fourth overall, in the 800 meter run at the New York State Track and Field Championships, held at Union-Endicott High School, Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10.
Hazlitt finished with a 1:53.79 time, which was also a new school record.
Odessa-Montour's Andy Fudala competed in two events at the state championship. He took eighth in the Division 2 110 meter hurdles (16.06). He also finished 21st in the pole vault (12'6").

Dundee holds annual sports awards program
DUNDEE--Dundee held the annual sports awards program Wednesday, June 7. There were a number of awards and Bobby Strait and Madison Neu won the top athletes of the year.
The most valuable players include (all awards will be listed in this same sport order): Damon Empson (football), Emily Oughterson (girls soccer), Bobby Strait (boys soccer), Bobby Strait (boys basketball), Madison Neu (girls basketball), Xavia Miller (winter cheer), Damon Empson (wrestling), Elizabeth Medina (girls bowling), Jared Hartman (boys bowling), Bobby Strait (baseball), Madison Neu (softball), Tara Bowden (girls track), Tyler Brace (boys track) and Michael Shearin (trap shooting).
Lee Gibson: Tyler Brace, Madison Neu, Peter Fiero, Kyle Cratsley, Megan Sutherland, Pollyanna Dean, Trenton Lane, Tara Bowden, Lucas Bowden, Ryan Prior, Pollyanna Dean, Madison Everetts, William Bowers and Jared Hartman.
Varsity club sportsmanship: Hunter Whitman, Madison Hill, Joshua Kane, Johnathen Clancey, Alyssa Newell, Sheyenne Ayers, Jared Jayne, Edele Morgan, Connor Muck, Blake Cratsley, Madison Hill, Hallie Knapp, Joshua Kane and Madison Hill.

Mustangs' Decker competes
ENDICOTT-Penn Yan's Joddie Decker competed in the New York State Track and Field Championships, held at Union-Endicott High School, Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10. Decker placed 25th in the girls 1500 meter run, with a time of 4:58.20.

Odessa honors athletes
Odessa-Montour recently recognized athletes at the annual Sports Boosters Banquet in the Fetter-Brown auditorium. The Harold Lynch Athlete of the Year Awards were presented to Sage Garrison and Andy Fudala. The Charles Martin Memorial Sportsmanship Awards were given to Dasia Herrmann and Nick Sgrecci.
