Dundee Winter Concert features guitar players
STARKEY--The seventh annual Dundee Winter Concert is quickly approaching and music fans will have the opportunity to experience a special concert at Starkey's Lookout, Friday, Feb. 21. Performers Loren Barrigar, Mark Mazengarb and special guest Katie Martucci will join together to help raise money for the Dundee Food Pantry with an evening that includes a pre-show get together at 6:30 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. concert. Barrigar started playing guitar when he was only four years old, and by the time he was six, played in front of thousands of country music fans at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. He has had a distinguished career taking him across the country and working on projects that include TV shows, collaborating with a Grammy-winning producer and touring. In 2019, he faced an unexpected challenge after a chainsaw accident forced a hospital visit as a level-one trauma patient with injuries to his hand and wrist. As he works through recovery, he will continue with vocals in the performance. Mazengarb hails from New Zealand and discovered bluegrass while at the University of North Carolina. In addition to bluegrass, he has also embraced jazz and folk, touring throughout New Zealand, the United States and Europe. Martucci graduated from the New England Conservatory in 2016 and is a performing singer, guitarist and violinist. She also teaches voice and songwriting at SUNY New Paltz, and leads several ensembles at the Jalopy School of Music in Brooklyn. "We are looking forward to a fantastic evening," said concert organizer Robert Sisbarro. "There will be wonderful music, and the event allows friends who might only see each other a few times a year the opportunity to reconnect." Sisbarro explained this year will include an early get together for socializing and a more formal concert with an intermission. The trio will be performing music influenced by bluegrass, jazz and western. Tickets will cost $10 and be available at the door.
