Auburn company buys building
DUNDEE--The former Dundee Foods building, located at 74 Seneca St. in Dundee, was sold to Oneida Warehousing during the first week of February resulting in what village officials are hoping will be an economic boost to the village. In a press release announcing the acquisition, Oneida Warehousing said they plan on investing in the facility while at the same time working with local businesses to aid in their storage needs as well. "I have been in conversations over the last month or two (with Oneida) and it seems like a good company with positive ideas for the future of the building. And if everything (they want to do is accomplished) it will be a big boost to the residents of this village and our surrounding community," said Fred Cratsley, mayor of Dundee. Based in Auburn, New York, Oneida currently manages 12 warehousing facilities located throughout upstate New York and Ohio. Peter Marshall, Bill Ellis and Larry Ellis are named as the new owners in the press release which says Oneida is actively seeking ways to improve and maximize the use of the warehouse. "(We) are anxious to develop new relationships with customers in the area. We intend on making space available for lease in addition to offering warehousing services. Our goal is to invest in the facility to maximize its use to us and our tenants," the press release states. Cratsley said he could not say how many jobs would be created by Oneida's acquisition, when improvements would begin or what will be stored at the warehouse, but he did say he expects to sit down with Oneida in the coming weeks to go over those details. "We are working closely with Fred Cratsley from the village of Dundee to prioritize improvements for the facility," the press release states. Cratsley said that one of the reasons for being unsure on when improvements will begin and when Oneida will begin storing things in the warehouse is that currently KanPak LLC in Penn Yan has a lease for use of the warehouse. "Once that lease is over Oneida can operate it... I think it's going to be great for the community as a whole," Cratsley said.
