One missing, one rescued on Seneca

HIMROD--The Yates County Sheriff's Office reports the 911 center received a call Sunday night, April 19 of two men who went on a canoe ride and did not return to a summer cottage on North Plum Point Road in Himrod.
The search continues after the canoe overturned at night on Seneca Lake. One man was rescued at midnight clinging to the boat after being located by the Onondaga Sheriff's helicopter and assisted in the water by the Yates Sheriff's patrol boat. With the water temperature of 40 degrees and 36-degree air temperature, the victim was airlifted to Strong Hospital in Rochester by a Lifenet medical helicopter.
The rescued man was identified as Keith M. Seymore, 27, of Chemung County.
The search is continuing for the second person in the canoe, Daniel S. Manganaro, 27. Included in the search are Sheriffs' Marine patrols from Yates, Seneca and Schuyler County, Yates County Office of Emergency Management, Himrod and additional area fire departments, Penn Yan Emergency Medical Service, the New York State Police and official drones from Yates and Seneca Counties. A state police boat and helicopter were assisting with the search, Monday, April 20.
A command post was established at Severne Point on Seneca Lake to assist with the incident.
