Dundee track opens this Thursday
DUNDEE--The ownership and management team of the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee have set dates for both open practice and the season opener.
Thursday night, June 4 the track will be open for practice allowing drivers competing at the track during the 2020 season time test their equipment. Pit admission is $25 per person and the grandstand seating area will be closed to spectators. Then on Friday, June 5 Outlaw will host the first full point race of the 2020 season featuring the Modifieds racing for $2,000 to win and $200 to take the green flag. Also, on the card will be the Crate Sportsman with the winner picking up $750. The Sportsman class will also race for a winners' share of $750. The Street Stocks open the season with the winner picking up $500 as will the winner of the IMCA Modifieds. The mighty 4 cylinders compete for $300 to win and the Hobby Stocks will round out the card with the victor claiming $250. The Youth Bandit Division will also see action as part of the season opener. In following along with New York state protocol, there will be no spectators allowed in the grandstand seating area and anyone entering the pit area will be required to wear a face mask and follow safe distancing along with other Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Gate and start times for both nights will be posted on Facebook. Pit admission for Friday night is $40. Currently, Tyler Siri along with his partner, Jordan Lynch are working to have the Friday night event televised on Pay Per View. "This has been a long dry spell," stated Siri. "We are finally in a position that we can open the track for racing with people in the pit area only, following strict guidelines. Racers are chomping at the bit to get going and it looks like the 2020 race season at Outlaw Speedway is finally here." The track is also reminding racers that Gov. Andrew Cuomo still reserves the right to change the rules based on the scientific data and the daily number of COVID-19 cases. However, the Finger Lakes region, where Outlaw Speedway is located, continues to show a decline at this time. The Finger Lakes region could potentially reach Phase 4 of the New York Pause on July 3 and potentially open to spectators for the July 4 weekend.
