School fitness center will open Oct. 19
DUNDEE--In a brief Dundee school board meeting Thursday, Sept. 10, district officials decided to allow selected sports for the fall season. As it stands for Dundee, this will include soccer and cross country. The decision was made following both state and local guidance. The board also briefly discussed the reopening of the school on Tuesday, Sept. 8, with Superintendent Kelly Houck stating she was impressed by how well students and staff have followed the rules and adjusted after being out of school for so long. Houck also briefly touched on the economic outlook of the district, saying she is concerned about a potential 20 percent reduction in state funding for the district, and that any reduction at all could cause great hardship. Houck also announced that the Community Wellness Center would open to the public on Oct. 19 with the understanding no more than 12 people will be admitted and masks will always be worn. Houck said she has worked with the Yates County Public Health Department to discuss the reopening and the Wellness Center has met all requirements to reopen.
