SPORTS RECAP: Week of 5-19-21

Dundee/Bradford Baseball
The combined Dundee/Bradford baseball team defeated Whitman, Friday, May 14. The final score was 18-8.
The BraveScots scored nine runs in the fourth inning with Shane DeCamp, Tyler Spina, Logan Snyder, Logan Ayers and Blake Machuga each driving in runs during the inning.
Spina was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts.
DeCamp was 2-for-3 at the plate.
The baseball team lost to Naples, 9-2, Wednesday, May 12.
Logan Ayers led Dundee/Bradford with two hits in three at-bats.
The team also lost to Red Jacket, Monday, May 10. The final score was 3-1. Spina recorded the RBI in the game.

Dundee/Bradford Softball
The Dundee/Bradford softball team defeated Marcus Whitman, 22-2, Friday, May 14.
Kirsta Sleve drove in four on three hits with a single in the first, a single in the second, and a home run in the fourth.
The BraveScots opened up scoring in the first inning, when Mikayla Schoffner drew a walk, scoring one run.
The team then tallied nine runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Schoffner, Sleve, Kailey Yeoman, Cambri Harrian and Schoffner, who all drove in runs.
Addie Kendall allowed zero hits and two runs, walking one on the mound.
The girls launched five home runs on the day. Harrian put one out in the fourth inning. Sleve had a homer in the fourth inning. Schoffner had a long ball in the third inning. Makenzie Cratsley went deep in the third inning. Kendall had a long ball in the first inning.
Nikki Peterson led the BraveScots with five stolen bases.
The BraveScots defeated Naples 21-0, Wednesday, May 12.
Harrian stopped Naples, throwing a complete game with the shutout.
Dundee/Bradford racked up 18 hits in the game. Harrian, Cratsley, Madison Sutryk, Kendall, and Peterson all had multiple hits. Sutryk, Cratsley, and Harrian each collected three hits to lead the BraveScots. Cratsley led the way with four stolen bases.
The girls also won against Red Jacket, 8-7 in 10 innings on Monday, May 10.
Harrian was 5-for-5 with three home runs. The team notched 16 total hits. Schoffner and Sutryk also had multiple hits in the game.

Dundee Track
The Dundee track team hosted a meet, Monday, May 10.
Kendall Parker was first in the high jump and second in the 100 meter dash for the girls. Lily Hall took first in the triple jump. Hallie Knapp was first in the discus throw and third in the shot put. Maya Somerville took third in the 200 meter dash. Hayden Morrison finished third in the girls long jump. Alissa Eaves was fourth in the 800 meter run.
For the boys, Brady Richardson was first in the 100 meter dash, while Nick Slavick was second. Richardson was also first in the 200 meter dash. Logan Buchanan took first in the boys high jump as did Peyton Boudinot in the pole vault. Steven Webster finished first in the 400 meter dash. Hunter Crofoot was victorious in the shot put competition. Tate Hoyt was second in the discus. Hayden Erick was third in the triple jump. Alexander Leonard took third in the 3200 meter run and fourth in the 1600 meter run. Thomas Benedick was second in the 110 meter hurdles.

Penn Yan Boys Lacrosse
The Penn Yan boys improved to 6-0 with two wins last week. The Mustangs recorded shutouts against both Midlakes-Red Jacket and Wayne.
Penn Yan defeated Midlakes-Red Jacket, 19-0, Thursday, May 13. Ayden Mowry recorded six goals and one assist in the game. Mekhi Mahan had three goals and one assist. Devon Gerhardt, Frank Ochoa and Teagen Fingar each scored two goals. Thomas Barden, Max Brodmann, Carter Earl and Oliver Connelly all had one goal apiece.
In the goal, Griffin Emerson made one save in 36 minutes and Wil Thompson added one save in 12 minutes.
The Mustangs shut down Wayne, 12-0, Tuesday, May 11. Brodmann scored four goals and one assist in the game. Earl added three goals and two assists, while Gerhardt had two goals and four assists. Mowry scored two goals and Mahan one.
Emerson made seven saves in the cage.

Penn Yan Girls Lacrosse
The Penn Yan girls lacrosse team added two wins to their record last week.
On Wednesday, May 12, Penn Yan beat Wayne 17-3. Hayley Anderson led with three goals and eight assists. Grace Ledgerwood added four goals, while Kaley Griffin and Lila Holly each had two. Jammie Decker, Avery Castner, Taylor Mullins, Brie Struck, Corinne Barden and Irelynd Densmore each scored once. Hannah Parsons made five saves in the goal.
The girls defeated Waterloo 13-10, Monday, May 10. Anderson was involved with 10 of the team's scores with six goals and four assists. Castner scored three times. Ledgerwood added two goals, while Griffin and Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger each had one. Parsons recorded nine saves.

Penn Yan Baseball
The Penn Yan baseball team defeated Geneva, 12-8, Thursday, May 13. Mark Preston started on the mound for the Mustangs and Mason MacKerchar came in for relief. Penn Yan tallied eight hits and worked Geneva pitchers for 10 walks in the win.
The baseball team fell to Newark 7-0, Tuesday, May 11. Matt Lerch was 1-for-2 at the plate. Brady Bouchard threw five strikeouts and Clark Simmons added three.

Penn Yan Softball
The Penn Yan softball team lost to Newark 9-6, Tuesday, May 11.
Giana Ficcaglia had 11 strikeouts in the game pitching for Penn Yan. She also had a home run in the first inning and a triple in the fifth.
"We are a work in progress, but making progress every game," said coaches Melissa Armsden and Bruce Rood. "These girls do not give up and that is key."

Penn Yan Track
The Penn Yan track team competed at the Sodus Showdown, Friday, May 14.
For the girls, Alexxis Henry was eighth in the 800 meter run, ninth in the long jump and took 10th in the 100 meter hurdles. Jaina Doyle was sixth in the 2000 meter steeplechase and took ninth in the 3000 meter run. Rayna Rios was eighth in the discus throw.
Dominic Lafferty was fourth in the boys 110 meter hurdles and seventh in the long jump. James Tette took sixth in the 1600 meter run. David Reid finished eighth in the pole vault. Anthony Wheeler was ninth in the 800 meter run and David Young was eleventh.

Penn Yan Tennis
The Penn Yan boys tennis team lost to Palmyra-Macedon 5-0, Wednesday, May 12.
Penn Yan defeated Newark 4-1, Monday, May 10.
Landon Spears won 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, as did Max Baker 6-1, 6-1 and Alex Reyes-Leon lost 6-2, 5-7, 6-3.
The doubles team of Eric Fingar and Bryan Smith won 6-0, 6-0 and Kyle Wheeler and Will Parsells won 6-1, 6-1.

Watkins Glen Tennis
The Watkins Glen tennis team lost to Elmira Notre Dame, Thursday, May 13. The match tally was 3-2. Winning for Watkins Glen was Dylan Morse and Tim Clifford both in singles matches.

Seneca Indians Baseball
The Seneca Indians baseball team defeated Dryden 7-6, Friday, May 14. The team had seven hits with Dominick Fazzary, Cameron Holland and Adam Pastore having two apiece. Alex Holmes added one.
The baseball team Whitney Point, 16-2, Wednesday, May 12. Daniel Lewis struck out six and Holland four on the mound.
Casey Keyes recorded two hits in the game.

Watkins Glen Softball
The Watkins Glen softball team lost to Notre Dame, 22-2, Friday, May 14.
Pitching for the Senecas was Natalie Edmister and Amanda Wilbur. Lois Hosley was catching.
The softball team lost to Edison, 20-0, Wednesday, May 12. Edmister was pitching for the team and Hosley catching.

Watkins Glen Golf
The Watkins Glen golf team topped Tioga 194-199, Thursday, May 13.
Georgio Fazzary posted the low 44. Daniel Ely had a 46, Ben Swinnerton and Andrew Hayes each had a 52, and Luke Spahalski a 58.
The golfers beat Newark Valley, 208-231, Tuesday, May 11. Fazzary recorded a 46 and Swinnerton a 52.

Watkins Glen Lacrosse
The Watkins Glen varsity lacrosse team lost to Vestal, Saturday, May 15. The final score was 15-2. Seamus Mooney and Nick D'Alleva recorded the two goals.
The lacrosse team fell to Owego, 14-4, Tuesday, May 11. Connor Novinsky made 21 saves in the cage. Mooney won 18 of 20 face offs and had two goals. Silas Farrell and D'Alleva each had one goal.

Odessa-Montour Softball
The Odessa-Montour softball team lost to Newfield, 30-4, Friday, May 14. Odessa scored one run in the first inning, two in the second and one in the third.
The softball team lost to Newark Valley, Wednesday, May 12. The final score was 17-2.

Odessa-Montour Golf
The Odessa-Montour golf team defeated Newark Valley, Friday, May 14. The final score was 211-218.
David Patterson shot a 46 and Benson Patterson had a 50. Eliza Starkweather added a 52, Wes Wade had a 63.
The golf team lost to Trumansburg, Thursday, May 13, 204-224. David Patterson had the low 47 on the day. .
