SPORTS RECAP: Week of 10-6-21
Dundee-Bradford Boys Soccer The Dundee-Bradford boys soccer team lost to Naples, 1-0, Thursday, Sept. 30. The team had five shots, four corner kicks and 13 saves.
Dundee-Bradford Girls Soccer The Dundee-Bradford girls soccer team defeated Twin Tiers, Friday, Oct. 1. Korrin Yeoman recorded four goals in the game. Nicole Peterson and Madison Hughes each scored once. Assisting in the game were Hayden Morrison (two), Hughes (three) and Yeoman. Gabrielle Tobiassen-Aasli had six saves. The girls won against South Seneca, 5-1, Wednesday, Sept. 29. Scoring for the BraveScots were Hughes (three), Morrison and Parker. Parker also had two assists, while Yeoman and Hughes had one. Tobiassen-Aasli made six saves. The team lost to Marcus Whitman, 3-2, Monday, Sept. 27. Hughes and Parker each earned goals in the game. Hughes also had an assist. Goalkeeper Tobiassen-Aasli made seven saves.
Dundee-Bradford Volleyball The Dundee-Bradford volleyball team lost to Midlakes, 3-1, Friday, Oct. 1. The individual game scores were 25-18, 20-25, 20-25, 18-25. The team easily defeated Honeoye, Wednesday, Sept. 29. The 3-0 victory came with scores of 25-4, 25-8, 25-16. Carlie Baker had 10 aces and one kill. Abby Miller added seven aces and four kills, while Lily Hall recorded three aces, seven assists and three kills. Tianna Stickland had three aces and one kill, Mikayla Schoffner added two kills and Cassidy Gage notched two aces.
Dundee Cross Country The Dundee cross country team competed at Marion, Tuesday, Sept. 28. For the boys, Camden Buchanan was sixth in 21:25. Alexander Leonard was eighth in 22:34, while Bryten Dunham took 22nd in 26:15. For the girls, Alissa Eaves finished eighth in 27:23. Lindsey Mosher and Charlotte Schuerholz were 11th and 12th, respectively, with times of 30:08 and 30:10.
Penn Yan Boys Soccer The Penn Yan boys soccer team fell in overtime to Pal-Mac, Saturday, Oct. 2. The Penn Yan goal was by Riley Griffiths with an assist from Owen Bishop. The soccer team defeated Mynderse, 2-0, Thursday, Sept. 30. Zackary Townley scored twice for the Mustangs. Brigham Hansen and Landon Berry each had an assist. Thomas Barden made four saves in goal. The boys defeated Midlakes, Tuesday, Sept. 28. The final score was 5-1. Hansen scored two goals in the game. David Reid, Griffiths and Kaden Steele each had one. Reid and Hansen each added an assist.
Penn Yan Girls Soccer The Penn Yan girls soccer team lost in overtime to Waterloo, 1-0, Thursday, Sept. 30. The girls also fell to Mynderse, 1-0, Wednesday, Sept. 29. The team defeated Wayland-Cohocton, Monday, Sept. 27, with a final score of 4-0. Recording goals were: Sierra Harrison, Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger, Vanessa Martinez and Morgan Andersen. Each scoring player also assisted on a goal. Elle Harrison made two saves.
Penn Yan Tennis The Penn Yan tennis team defeated Midlakes, 5-0, Thursday, Sept. 30. In singles, Abigail Garvey topped Jennifer Petrachi 6-0, 6-0; Jayden Hollister won over Kenzie Turner 6-2, 6-2 and Adelyn Emerson beat Emma LaBour 6-2, 6-3. The doubles teams of Rachael Garvey and Anella Tillman and Natalie Koen and Rayna Rios won 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2, respectively. The team fell to HAC, 4-1, Monday, Sept. 27. Hollister won the second singles match 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
Penn Yan Volleyball The Penn Yan volleyball team lost to Wayne, 3-0, Thursday, Sept. 30. Jammie Decker had 10 kills, two assists, three blocks and three digs. Paisley Jones added two aces and two digs. Lauren Schilling had two aces, one kill and four digs. The team beat Midlakes, 3-0, Tuesday, Sept. 28. Alexis Parsons earned one ace, two kills, one block and two digs. Decker recorded 12 kills, one assist, four blocks and two digs. Faith Baker had five aces, two kills, one block and six digs. Hailey Trank added one ace, three kills, 19 assists, two blocks and three digs. The team lost to Mynderse, 3-0, Monday, Sept. 27. The game scores were 20-25, 26-28, 19-25.
Penn Yan Cross Country The Penn Yan cross country team competed at Marcus Whitman Tuesday, Sept. 28. For the boys, JD Tette was first in 17:35.7. Anthony Wheeler recorded a 20:16.41 for 11th and David Madorsky was 18th in 22:29.84. In the girls race, Madison Bishop took eighth in 25:36.32. Serenity Rodgers was 21st in 31:56.60.
Penn Yan Golf The Penn Yan golf team defeated Midlakes, 259-265, Friday, Oct. 1. Griffin Emerson shot a 43 and Cameron Bassage had a 45. The Mustangs also beat Naples 240-271, Wednesday, Sept. 29. Emerson recorded a 43, Bassage had a 44 and Zac Smith shot a 50. The team lost to Geneva, 245-261, Tuesday, Sept. 28. Bassage carded a 45 and Emerson made a birdie on hole number 12. The golfers lost to Waterloo 260-267, Monday, Sept. 27. Emerson shot a 48 and Colin Johnson made a birdie on number nine.
Hammondsport Cross Country The Hammondsport cross country team competed at the McQuaid Invitational in Rochester, Saturday, Oct. 2. Liam Kressly was 76th with an 18:29.6 time. Blake Wright took 148th in 19:47.1 and Chris Hill was 340th in 26:24.4.
Hammondsport Boys Soccer The Hammondsport boys soccer team fell to Arkport/Canaseraga 5-0, Friday, Oct. 1. The team also lost to Canisteo-Greenwood, 4-3, Wednesday, Sept. 29. Scoring for the Lakers were Cooper Watson on a free-kick and Luke Szathmary twice on penalty kicks.
Hammondsport Girls Soccer The Hammondsport girls soccer team lost to Jasper-Troupsburg, 5-1, Thursday, Sept. 30. Nichole Pratt scored the lone Hammondsport goal. Rorie Whitcomb made nine saves in the goal. The soccer team lost to Addison, Wednesday, Sept. 29. The final score was 6-0. Whitcomb made 10 saves. The Lakers tied Friendship/Scio, 2-2, Tuesday, Sept. 27. Hannah Hoerter and Gabrielle Doyle each scored in the game. Whitcomb made three saves.
Hammondsport Volleyball The Hammondsport volleyball team fell to Arkport-Canaseraga, 3-1, Friday, Oct. 1. The team also lost a five-game match to Addison, Wednesday, Sept. 29. The game scores were 13-25, 25-17, 25-20, 17-25, 22-25.
Seneca Indians Football The combined Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour football team beat Owego, 29-7, Friday, Oct. 1. On offense, Owen Scholtisek had two rushing touchdowns on 11 carries for 63 yards. He also made three receptions for 39 yards. Travon Jones recorded 12 carries for 91 yards and made three receptions for 31 yards. Dominick Fazzary also had a rushing touchdown on 15 runs for 50 yards and one catch for 16 yards. Quarterback Cameron Holland was 9-for-17 passing with 82 yards. On defense, Bradley Gillis, Jones and Thomas Snow each made four tackles. Fazzary had three.
Watkins Glen Boys Soccer The Watkins Glen boys soccer team defeated Tioga, 5-3, Saturday, Oct. 2. The soccer team lost to Odessa-Montour, Wednesday, Sept. 29. The final score was 3-2.
Watkins Glen Girls Soccer The Watkins Glen girls soccer team lost to Waverly, 4-0, Friday, Oct. 1. Brenna Pierce made 16 saves in goal. The team beat Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, 5-2, Wednesday, Sept. 29. Scoring for the Senecas were Abby Gibson with three goals and Skye Honrath with one. The other goal was scored off of a corner kick that an SVEC player defected in. Carly Arnold and Jennifer Gublo each had an assist. Lilly Ameigh made six saves.
Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Swimming The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour swimming team took third at the Maine-Endwell Fall Fling, Saturday, Oct. 2. Finishing second were: the 200 yard medley relay team, Thalia Marquez in the 100 and 200 free and Alannah Klemann in the 200 IM. The swim team defeated Dryden, 99-62, Thursday, Sept. 30. Recording first place finishes were: the 200 medley relay team, Kendra Fish (100 and 200 free), Klemann (200 IM and 500 free), Malina Butler (50 free), Marquez (100 butterfly and backstroke) and the 200 free relay team.
Watkins Glen Volleyball The Watkins Glen volleyball team fell to Edison, Tuesday, Sept. 28. The final game total was 3-1. Melanie Wysocki had four service points, three aces, three kills and two digs in the game.
Odessa-Montour Boys Soccer The Odessa-Montour boys soccer team lost to Marathon, 8-2, Thursday, Sept. 30. The soccer team defeated Watkins Glen, 3-2, Wednesday, Sept. 29. Veer Patel had one goal and Ethan King two in the game.
Odessa-Montour Girls Soccer The Odessa-Montour girls soccer team fell to Notre Dame, Friday, Oct. 1. The final score was 3-1. Keyonna Garrison made seven saves in the game. The girls lost to Newark Valley, 2-0, Wednesday, Sept. 29
Odessa-Montour Volleyball The Odessa-Montour volleyball team lost to Newark Valley, 3-0, Tuesday, Sept. 28. Hannah Kinner and Jade Baldwin each recorded six service points. Kinner also had three aces and two assists, while Baldwin had two aces and one block..
