Yates County will offer grant funding

PENN YAN-As travelers continue to discover the Finger Lakes region, Yates County announced last week it will help local communities and organizations protect and interact with the natural charm of the region.
The Yates County 2023 Natural and Recreational Resources Grant seeks projects from both local governments and private organizations that not only look to preserve unique landscapes and areas but also projects that provide interactions and experiences with those destinations.
"We are happy to offer this funding for projects in our county that can help protect, preserve, or responsibly develop our natural and recreational resources," said Nonie Flynn, Yates County administrator. "There is beauty here in Yates County, every season of the year, and projects that can help us share that beauty with our citizens and visitors is exactly what we are looking for."
Funding awards require a 50 percent match except in rare circumstances. The match may be composed of additional funding from other parties or in-kind services.
The deadline for applications is Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at 4 p.m.
