Middle school presents 'The Lion King Jr.'

PENN YAN--Penn Yan Middle School students are excited to welcome guests to their rendition of The Lion King Jr. this weekend. Performance dates are Feb. 10-12 in the Penn Yan Middle School Auditorium. The show will begin at 7 p.m. on the 10th and 11th and 2 p.m. on the 12th.
After welcoming their newborn son, Simba, into the Pridelands, King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi prepare him for his time as ruler. However, Simba's uncle Scar has other plans for the royal family. Furious that he is no longer second in line for the throne, Scar joins forces with a pack of hyenas to plot the downfall of his brother and nephew. Soon, Simba finds himself out of the Pridelands and in a jungle oasis, where he becomes friends with a sassy meerkat named Timon and a gassy warthog named Puumba. These two unlikely pals teach Simba about the simple life filled with relaxing afternoons and bug buffets. But when Simba learns that the Pridelands are suffering, he must decide whether he wants to stay in his carefree paradise or step up and become the king everyone needs.
