Sewer design for Montour housing is approved

MONTOUR FALLS—The Montour Falls subsidized apartment will move onto the final stage of construction.
Bonnie Howell, Montour Falls board member, announced at the March 2 village meeting that the sewer design was approved and that the village had signed off on it.  Clerk Suzanne Casselberry said the sewer designs had to be approved by the Department of Conservation and Department of Transportation, something the two agencies had not done to the original designs.  That caused a five month delay in the project’s completion.
After the village engineer signed off on the designs, the village also did on Thursday.
In other business:
• The board will be applying for a third round of Restore New York funding for work on the former Rural Urban Center.  The total amount of funds they will be requesting is $1.1 million.  The estimated project total is $1.6 million.  If approved, Bruce Nelson, developer, will turn the old center into 11 residential units.
• The board authorized the marina manager agreement, which had no pay increase.
• The 2009 agreement for Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development (SCOPED) economic development services was authorized.
• The board approved the request by the Lake County Players to muse the carnival grounds for a car wash fundraising event, providing they have their own insurance.
• The board tabled decision on the boat lift operator agreement as Mayor Donna Kelley was still looking into it.  They also tabled the marina janitorial agreement.
• The board will confer with Robert Halpin, village attorney, about a resident who wants to pay for his marina rental through work.  The board had some concerns about insurance and if it was an union issue.
• The next regular board meeting will Monday, March 16 at 7 p.m.
