Odessa presents ‘Once Upon a Mattress’
ODESSA—The Odessa-Montour high school will present “Once Upon a Mattress” Thursday, March 14, through Saturday, March 16. The play retells the medieval version of “The Princess and the Pea,” which focuses on the unconventional Princess Winifred the Woebegone (Morgan Stermer and Dana Roberts). Fred, as she is called, must pass Queen Aggravain’s (Katelin Pierce and Emma Raymond) test in order to marry Prince Dauntless the Drab (Jon Chapman and Brennan Voorheis). The queen declares that if the prince fails to find a true princess to pass the sleeping test, then no one can marry. Sir Henry (Tyler Goossen) and Lady Larken (Sydney Eberhardt and Haley Guild) do whatever they can to help Princess Fred succeed, so that they two can be wed. The play also features a minstrel (Aaron Fisher), a jester (Manly Gavich), and a mute king (Phil Humphries). “Once Upon a Mattress” is directed by Kim Laursen and sponsored by the O-M Fine Arts Boosters. The show will be held in the Fetter-Brown Auditorium at 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. There is also a 2 p.m. matinee showing on Saturday. Tickets cost $6 for students, $7 for senior citizens, and $8 for adults.
