Business owners can apply for grant
DUNDEE—Community Progress Inc., located in Corning, is organizing interested Dundee business and building owners to apply for a 2013 Main Street grant. Julie Chevalier, executive director of Community Progress, explained this is the second time her office has worked with Dundee businesses to apply for a grant from New York State Housing and Community Renewal. She said last year’s application was not awarded any funds. She added seven Main Street businesses had applied previously. Chevalier explained the state has not released the deadline and grant totals yet. However, she said applications will likely be submitted in May. She added based on previous years building owners have received between $10,000 and $50,000 in matching funds. The actual amounts will be announced later. The state is looking to fund second and third story apartment space, and retail space renovations. Chevalier said Community Progress is working with Seneca County Planner Peter Brown on Dundee’s application. Interested Dundee businesses can contact Chevalier at 607-962-3506. She said the sooner, the better. Chevalier explained she is currently looking for the scope of a building owner’s project and the estimated cost for the application.
