PHOTO GALLERY: Vintage racing takes over Watkins Glen
WATKINS GLEN–As vintage cars staged on Franklin Street, and spectators lined up right to the curb to watch the action, the historic years of street racing once again came alive in Watkins Glen, Friday Sept. 6. The Grand Prix Festival celebrated its 20th anniversary with events throughout the day focusing on the cars and drivers of street and racing machines alike. In the evening the tribute laps on the original circuit around the hills of Watkins drew thousands of spectators to take in the sights and sounds of the racing. The Mini was this year’s featured marque car and could be seen in the various displays in the village as well as racing on the street.
