Hazlitt advances to state finals
VESTAL-Watkins Glen varsity runner Patrick Hazlitt advanced to the state finals in the 1600 meter run, Thursday, June 2 at Vestal high school. Hazlitt finished in second place with a 4:18.33 at the state qualifier, breaking the current school record and setting a personal best time. The state meet will be held at Cicero-North Syracuse, Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11. Also running for Watkins Glen was the 3200 meter relay team that finished seventh with a 8:35.06. Shawn Rutledge recorded an eighth place finish in the steeplechase (10:12.46). Maggie Bond was 10th for the Watkins girls in the 1500 meter run (5:07.86). Kai Sutterby was 12th in the 800 meter run (2:29.52). The girls 3200 meter relay team took 10th with 10:39.83. Ryanna LaMoreaux tied for seventh place in the high jump with 4'09.00". Odessa-Montour also competed at the qualifier, with Bryce Elliott finishing seventh in the shot put (44'08.25") and ninth in the discus (127'09.00"). Zach Elliott was eighth in the discus with 129'09.00" and 16th in the shot put (39'11.50"). James Randolph took 10th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:01.11). In the steeplechase, Luke Eberhardt was 13th with 11:01.35. For the girls, the 400 meter relay team was eighth with 53.87. Rosie Peckham and Britney Visscher had 13th place finishes in the high jump (4'06.00") and pole vault (7'06.00") respectively. The 3200 meter relay team was 16th with 11:45.65. Hannah Bruno finished 17th in the 400 meter dash (1:04.95).
