Dundee boys basketball beats Romulus 71-63 DUNDEE--The Dundee boys varsity basketball team topped Romulus, 71-63, Thursday, Dec. 14. Wylie Hall posted 19 points. Kyle Cratsley added 17, while Robbie Clark had 10 points. The Scots fell to South Seneca, Tuesday, Dec. 12. The final score was 50-30. Clark led with 11 points. Hall scored six. Girls basketball The Lady Scots varsity basketball team fell to Romulus, Friday, Dec. 15. The final score was 66-39. Mackenzie Strait led Dundee with 23 points, four steals, three rebounds, and two assists. Megan Sutherland and Vivienne Hoad both scored five points. Karynna Rutledge, Hallie Knapp, and Alyssah Newell all added two points. Newell also posted eight rebounds. Hoad had five rebounds, while Sutherland and Rutledge earned four each. Bowling The Dundee girls varsity bowling team suffered a 4-0 loss to Newark, Thursday, Dec. 14. Mercedez Roy had a 357. Isabella Heavner-Ortiz posted a 336, followed by Samantha Hunt with 308. The boys lost 3-1. Jared Hartman led the boys with a 555. Connor Muck added a 516. Lucas Bowden earned a 468, while Stephan Smith had a 439. The boys and girls each blanked Honeoye, 4-0, Tuesday, Dec. 12. Hartman bowled a 585. Muck added 446. Bowden had 442, followed by Hunter Murphy with 422. Roy led with a 385 for the girls. Erika Gould posted a 320, followed by Heavner-Ortiz with a 318. Wrestling The Dundee varsity wrestling team took sixth at the Waterloo Duals, Saturday, Dec. 16. Waterloo won the tournament. Kenneth Empson Jr. went 5-0 for the weekend with five pins. Paul Knapp, Logan Corey and Steven Ameigh all had competitive wins.
Penn Yan girls win by two points; boys beat Waterloo PENN YAN--The Penn Yan girls varsity basketball team defeated Waterloo, 61-59, Friday, Dec. 15. Sydney Bloom led with 16 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Peyton Comfort added 15 points and seven rebounds. Joddie Decker posted eight points and two assists. Hannah Keech scored six points with nine assists, while Jenna Curbeau also had six points and 14 rebounds. Emma Harling earned five points and seven rebounds. Logan Broome added five points and three rebounds. The Lady Mustangs lost to Hornell, 62-45, Tuesday, Dec. 12. Bloom posted 14 points and five rebounds. Harling scored 10 points and eight rebounds. Keech had six points, while Curbeau and Comfort each scored five. Decker had four points, followed by Elissa Callaway with one. Boys basketball The Penn Yan boys varsity basketball team recorded a win against Waterloo, 51-31, Friday, Dec. 15. Dylan Stape had 13 points in the game. The Mustangs beat Greece-Odyssey, 66-40, Monday, Dec. 11. Wrestling The Penn Yan varsity wrestling team took fifth at the Campbell-Savona/Bradford Holiday Duals, Friday, Dec. 15. The Mustangs were 3-4 overall. There were eight schools competing. Penn Yan beat Dansville, 46-30; Thomas A. Edison, 35-33; and Watkins Glen, 54-24. They lost to Canisteo-Greenwood, 72-0; Bolivar-Richburg, 57-15; Campbell-Savona/Bradford, 48-33; and Addison, 60-12. Penn Yan lost to East Rochester, Thursday, Dec. 14. The final score was 51-24. Jarred Calice (138) beat Alex Morales by decision, 8-2. Dakota Miller (145) pinned Dan Zampino in 1:56. Coty Bailey (170) won against Jackson Hauser by decision, 5-2. Alvaro Chavez (195) beat Elijah Davis in 5:56. Ayden Mowry (99) won by forfeit. Bowling The Penn Yan varsity bowling teams topped Naples, 4-0, Thursday Dec. 14. For the boys, Zack Blauvelt posted a 614. Zach Gurba bowled a 519, while Cameron Bassage had 511. Jon Mashewske had a 493. Kari Ayers earned a 529 for the girls. Brandee Ellis had a 499. Emily Augustine posted 481, followed by Emilie Thomas with 465. Both of the bowling teams fell to Wayne, 4-0, Wednesday, Dec. 13. Gurba bowled a 571, followed by Mashewske with a 557. Marcus Mayhew added 512. For the girls, Ayers led with 605. Augustine earned a 526. Thomas added a 506 and Ellis bowled a 471. McKelvie Jensen had a 463.
Hammondsport loses to Prattsburgh PRATTSBURGH--The Hammondsport girls varsity basketball team fell to Prattsburgh, Wednesday, Dec. 13. The final score was 65-17. McKenzie Boscoe earned seven points and eight rebounds. TeĆ” Flynn posted four points and eight rebounds, while Paige MacDonald and Destiny Hammond both had three points. MacDonald posted 15 rebounds and Hammond had six. The Lakers defeated Lima Christian, 41-33, Monday, Dec. 11. Leading Hammondsport was Boscoe with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Flynn and Hammond each had seven points, with nine and five rebounds respectively. Deonna Deal and MacDonald posted four points each. MacDonald also earned five rebounds. Megan Allen had three points and six rebounds. Boys basketball The Hammondsport boys varsity basketball team fell to Prattsburgh, 66-36, Tuesday, Dec. 12. The Lakers stayed close in the first quarter, but Prattsburgh pulled ahead by the end of the half with a 20 point lead. Brayden Whitcomb helped the Lakers by scoring 10 points. Cameron Roote posted eight points, while Parker Watson had six.
Odessa-Montour boys win, girls lose to Candor WATKINS GLEN--The Odessa-Montour boys varsity bowling team beat Candor, 3-1, Friday, Dec. 15. Jesse Jordan led with a 386. Colton Chapman posted a 379, followed by Eric Rumsey with 352. Andrew Ink had a 349. The girls lost 3-1. Kacie Wood bowled a 408. Madison Randall contributed 392, while Jana Arias had 354. Ashley Stewart earned a 343. Boys swimming The Odessa-Montour boys varsity swim team topped Watkins Glen, 109-34, Tuesday, Dec. 12. The 200 medley relay team (Alec Betts, Billy Tague, Jake Mayette, and Brett Walters) won first in 1:56.89. The 200 free relay team (Johnny Niedermaier, Micah Brewster, Bailey Hornbrook, and Cameron Adams) took first in 1:53.06. The 400 free relay team (Betts, Walters, Mayette, and Tague) finished first with 4:04.36. Mayette was first in the 200 free (2:29.71) and the 100 fly (1:08.74). Tague finished first in the 500 free (5:18.39) and the 100 breaststroke (1:09.94). Betts placed first in the 200 IM (2:32.29) and 100 backstroke (1:11.68). "The O-M varsity boys beat Watkins Glen tonight for the first time in many years. The boys swam really well, with many trying out new events," said Coach Terri Brace. Girls basketball The Indians' girls varsity basketball team beat Tioga, 49-39, Friday, Dec. 15. Olivia Grover scored 15 points with six rebounds. Nakiaha Robinson added 10 points and four steals, while Heidi Casselberry had nine points. Gillian Clark scored seven. The Odessa-Montour girls varsity basketball team defeated Candor, 61-56, Tuesday, Dec. 12. "Candor outplayed us all night long," said Coach Greg Gavich. "We were lucky to get out of here with a win tonight." Clark had 22 points. Grover scored 16, while Robinson added 15. Boys basketball The Odessa-Montour boys varsity basketball team lost to Tioga in an away game, Thursday, Dec. 14. The final score was 71-36. The Indians basketball team fell to Candor, 61-53, Tuesday, Dec. 12. Wrestling The Odessa-Montour varsity wrestling team beat Thomas A. Edison, 36-34, Tuesday, Dec. 12. Josiah Lynch (120), Collin Haag (145), Daniel Minnier (170), Jeremiah Lynch (182) and Dylan Houseknecht (285) won with pins. Andrew Hartford (138) won by forfeit.
Watkins Glen boys fall to Elmira Notre Dame WATKINS GLEN--The Watkins Glen boys varsity basketball team lost to Elmira Notre Dame, Friday, Dec. 15. The final score was 42-40. Dayne Hughey had 14 points. The Senecas' basketball team posted a win against Trumansburg, 58-38, Monday, Dec. 12. Indoor track The Watkins Glen varsity indoor track team competed in the 607 Invite, Friday, Dec. 15, at Ithaca College. In the 1600 meter race, Gabe Planty took third (4:35.29), followed by Sean Holland in 12th place (4:57.18). Aaron Planty was fourth in the 1000 meter race (2:42.57). Max Evans finished 10th in the high jump (5'4") and 13th in the 600 meters (1:36.05). Josh Updyke was 13th in the 55 meters (7.09), while Tristan Yuhasz was 19th (7.14). Isobel Scheffey placed 10th in the 300 meters (47.10) and 19th in the 55 meters (47.10). Boys swimming The Watkins Glen boys varsity swim team fell to Odessa-Montour, Tuesday, Dec. 12. The final score was 109-34. Nathaniel Wickham took first in the 50 free (25.06) and first in the 100 free (58.15). James Jensen placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:51.43). Scott Brubaker was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:35.70) and fourth in the 200 IM (3:01.10). Jacob Asbury finished third in the 200 free (3:03.62) and fourth in the 500 free (8:27.54). Girls basketball The Senecas' girls varsity basketball team topped Notre Dame, 48-33, in an away game, Friday, Dec. 17. Ryanna LaMoreaux led with 14 points, four rebounds, two blocks, and two assists. Taylor Kelly had 13 points, five steals, one rebound, and one assist. Clara Chedzoy and Emmie Bond both posted six points and 10 rebounds. Hannah Morse added four points, eight steals, seven assists, and four rebounds. Danielle Leszyk earned three points and two rebounds. Watkins topped Trumansburg, 64-16, Tuesday, Dec. 12. Kelly led with 18 points, eight steals, and six rebounds. LaMoreaux added 14 points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Morse also had 14 points, seven assists, six steals, and one rebound. Leszyk and Bond both posted six points, while Julia Reilly scored four. Wrestling Senecas' varsity wrestling team placed eighth at the Campbell-Savona/Bradford Holiday Duals, Friday, Dec. 15. Watkins' record was 1-6, beating Dansville, 31-30. The wrestlers lost to Thomas A. Edison, 45-12; Campbell-Savona/Bradford, 42-15; Bolivar-Richburg, 72-9; Canisteo-Greenwood, 72-10; Addison, 66-12; and Penn Yan 54-24. Bowling The Watkins Glen girls bowling team fell to Waverly, 3-1, while the boys lost 4-0, Thursday, Dec. 14. Nikole VanDyke led the girls with a 541. Hayley Cornish posted a 506, while Nancy Jackson added 437. Kendra Cornish bowled a 412. Makenzie Kellogg had a 403. Wrett Brower earned a 599. H. Nathaniel Rose followed with 587, while Steven Bradley added 577. Conlin Wysocki bowled a 571. Casen Weeden had 532. The Watkins boys blanked Elmira Notre Dame, 4-0, Monday, Dec. 11. Wrett Brower led with a 567. Rose had a 549, followed by Wyatt Brower with 547. Bradley posted a 538 and Wysocki had 506. The girls lost 4-0. Hayley Cornish bowled a 396. Kendra Cornish registered a 395. Jackson contributed 383, while Kellogg had a 352.
