Dundee competes at Red Jacket, beats Mynderse
SHORTSVILLE--The Dundee varsity wrestling team competed at the Red Jacket Holiday Duals, Saturday, Dec. 30. The Scots were 2-3 overall. Individual stats were not provided.
The Dundee varsity wrestling team beat Mynderse, 42-30, Thursday, Dec. 28.
Paul Knapp, Trenton Lane, Phoenix Ault, and Joey Dillon all had pins for the Scots. Haille Empson, Leif Hoyt, and Tate Hoyt won with forfeits.
The Scots lost to South Seneca, 42-40, Thursday, Dec. 21.
Haille Empson won with a major decision, 10-0. Lane and Kenneth Empson pinned their opponents.
Girls basketball
Dundee's girls varsity basketball team lost to Red Jacket in a home game, Tuesday, Dec. 19. The final score was 72-26.
Mackenzie Strait led with 16 points. Alexandria Wood scored four points. Alyssah Newell, Megan Sutherland, and Hallie Knapp all earned two points.
Boys basketball
The Dundee boys varsity basketball team suffered a loss to Red Jacket, Tuesday, Dec. 19. The final score was 65-45.
Bowling
The Dundee boys varsity bowling team topped Naples, 4-0, Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Hunter Murphy led with a 519. Lucas Bowden bowled a 468. Jared Hartman added 448. Stephen Smith posted a 345.
The girls lost 4-0. Mercedez Roy posted a 366, followed by Isabele Heavner-Oritz with a 360. Erika Gould bowled a 318. Jaedyn Brewer earned a 297 and Samantha Hunt had 296.

Penn Yan girls claim crown at Bath tournament
BATH--The Penn Yan girls varsity basketball team beat Wellsville at the Bath Tournament championship game, Friday, Dec. 29. The final score was 55-42.
Sydney Bloom and Hannah Keech each had 13 points. Peyton Comfort recorded 11, while Emma Harling had 10.
The Mustangs defeated Bath-Haverling in the opening round of the tournament, 50-47, Wednesday, Dec. 27.
Bloom led with 20 points. Comfort posted 10 points, while Harling earned six. Keech and Jenna Curbeau each added five. Joddie Decker had four.
Penn Yan topped Geneva, 65-48, Friday, Dec. 22.
Bloom had 27 points, three assists, and three rebounds. Harling scored 12 points, while Keech had 11 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.
The Lady Mustangs fell to Aquinas, Thursday, Dec. 21. The final score was 63-41.
Boys basketball
The Penn Yan boys varsity basketball team topped Geneva in a close game, Friday, Dec. 22. The final score was 44-43.
Desmond Battin led with 14 points. Dylan Stape scored 11 points, while Ben Emerson had six points. Derrick Rivello and Conner Fingar both had five points.
The Mustangs fell to Corning, 52-44, playing at the Syracuse Carrier Dome, Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Stape scored 24 points, followed by Emerson with nine. Battin posted four points. Rivello had three points, while Cade Curbeau and Will Rogers each scored two points.
Wrestling
The Mustangs' varsity wrestling team was defeated by Marcus Whitman, 66-21, Thursday, Dec. 21.
Jarred Calice (132) pinned Michael Smith in 3:20. Nate Elliott (152) won against Dylan Howell by decision, 7-0. Ayden Mowry (99) and Reid Castner (145) won by forfeit.
Bowling
The Penn Yan girls varsity bowling team topped Marcus Whitman, 4-0, Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Emily Augustine led with 542, followed by Kari Ayers with 541. Emilie Thomas had a 435. Brandee Ellis bowed a 370. Mckelvie Jensen added a 359.
The boys lost, 4-0. Zach Gurba bowled a 542. Jon Mashewske added 518. Cameron Bassage posted 501, followed by Zack Blauvelt with 461.

Hammondsport boys top Bradford, 54-34
JASPER--The Hammondsport varsity basketball team topped Bradford in the consolation round of the Jasper-Troupsburg Christmas Tournament, Wednesday, Dec. 27. The final score was 54-34.
The Lakers outscored the Braves in three quarters. The All-Tournament Team player for Hammondsport was Parker Watson scoring 19 points, with three assists. Dillan Conley contributed 13 points and four steals.
Hammondsport fell to Genesee Valley, 71-54, in the first round of the tournament, Tuesday, Dec. 26. Watson led with 16 points.
The Hammondsport boys varsity basketball team fell to Campbell-Savona in overtime, 54-50, Wednesday, Dec. 20.
The two teams were tied after the first quarter. The Lakers outscored the Panthers in the second and fourth quarters, while the Panthers outscored the Lakers in the third quarter and in overtime.
Watson scored 16 points. Brayden Whitcomb posted eight points and nine rebounds, while Conley also had eight points.
Girls basketball
The Hammondsport girls varsity basketball team lost to Campbell-Savona, 51-41, Tuesday, Dec. 19.
McKenzie Boscoe scored 25 points, with 10 rebounds. Destiny Hammond posted nine points, two assists, two rebounds, and two steals. Teá Flynn had three points, five rebounds, and two assists. Megan Allen and Paige MacDonald both scored two points.

Odessa girls win consolation; boys win tournament
BATH--The Odessa-Montour girls varsity basketball team defeated Bath in overtime, 47-43, in the consolation round of the Bath Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament, Friday, Dec. 29.
Grace Vondracek scored to open the overtime on a cross-over drive to the basket. Bath tied it with two free throws, but then Gillian Clark hit a three-pointer with 49 seconds left in overtime to give Odessa the lead for good. She then made a free throw with 16.9 seconds for the final difference.
Clark led with 15 total points and 12 rebounds, and was named to the all-tournament team. Olivia Grover added 13 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks. Nakiaha Robinson posted 11 points and four assists. Sara Gardner and Vondracek both scored four points.
Odessa's girls lost to Wellsville in the opening game of the Bath Tournament, 52-39, Wednesday, Dec. 27.
Coach Greg Gavich said the Indians trailed 13-3 after the first quarter and never recovered. Grover scored 17 points. Clark added 13.
Boys basketball
The Indians' boys varsity basketball team won the championship game of the Addison Christmas Tournament, Saturday, Dec. 30, by defeating Addison, 64-63.
Curtis Harris led with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Brandon Ray earned 14 points (including four three-point shots) and seven rebounds. Noah Austin added 13 points and 13 rebounds. Zach Elliott had seven points and 11 rebounds.
Harris was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while Elliott was named to the All-Tournament team.
"This was an all-around team effort and the kids just played as hard as they could from the opening tip-off to the last buzzer," said Coach Matt Johnston.
Odessa defeated Campbell Savona, 67-35, in the opening round of the Addison Tournament, Friday, Dec. 29.
Harris led Odessa with 16, scored in only three quarters. Ray ended up with 14 points, including four three-point shots. Elliott also had 14, with seven rebounds. Austin posted nine points and nine rebounds.
"This was the best all around team effort we have had," said Coach Matt Johnston.
Odessa topped Thomas A. Edison, 57-46, Friday, Dec. 22.
Harris posted 21 points. Elliott scored 16, with a career-high of 20 rebounds.
Wrestling
The Odessa-Montour varsity wrestling team placed fourth at the Patriot Duals, Saturday, Dec. 30.
The Indians were 2-3, beating Binghamton-Seton, 45-21, and Watkins Glen, 60-5. Collin Haag (138), Jacob Zimmer (160) and Dylan Houseknecht (285) were all undefeated at the tournament. Houseknecht also has an 18-0 record for the season.
The Indians topped the Senecas' varsity wrestling team, 48-12, Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Josiah Lynch (120) pinned Alexis Shea in 1:05. Houseknecht (285) beat Ethan Voorheis in 4:43.
Andrew Hartford (132), Haag (145), Riley Kuparinen (152), Joshua Beckley (160), Daniel Minnier (170), and Jeremiah Lynch (182) won by forfeit.
Boys swimming
The Odessa-Montour boys varsity swim team beat Lansing, 56-37, Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Billy Tague won first in the 200 IM (2:13.58) and first in the 500 freestyle (5:27.04). Alec Betts finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.37) and second in the 200 freestyle (2:17.40). Cameron Adams took first in the 200 freestyle (2:09.75) and second in the 500 freestyle (5:57.47). Bailey Hornbrook placed second in the 50 freestyle (26.37) and second in the 100 freestyle (59.24). Jacob Mayette was second in the 100 butterfly (1:10.10).
The 200 medley relay and 200 free relay teams won for Odessa.
Bowling
The Odessa-Montour girls varsity bowling team blanked Newark Valley, 4-0, Thursday, Dec. 21.
Jackie Vincent led with a 404. Ashley Stewart added 385. Kacie Wood posted 355, followed by Madison Randall with 342. Jana Arias bowled 308. Pixie Kinner had a 304.
The boys lost, 4-0. Eric Rumsey bowled a 515. Andrew Ink had a 477. Jesse Jordan posted a 379, while Colton Chapman had 328.

Watkins Glen wins holiday tournament at home
WATKINS GLEN-The Watkins Glen boys varsity basketball team topped Spencer-Van Etten to win the Holiday Tournament, Saturday, Dec. 30. The final score was 42-39.
Isaac McIlroy led with 10 points and three steals. Dayne Hughey scored nine points with 13 rebounds, while Owen Scholtisek had nine points and three assists. Joe Chedzoy scored seven. Michael Doane added five points and Alex Schimizzi posted two points.
Hughey was named to the All-Star team, and Chedzoy was awarded as the Most Valuable Player.
In the first round of the tournament, Watkins beat Trumansburg, 54-21, Friday, Dec. 29.
McIlroy led with 10 points, four assists, and two steals, while Schimizzi also had 10 points. Hughey had eight points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. Chedzoy added seven points and five rebounds. Doane posted six points.
Girls basketball
Watkins' girls varsity basketball team fell to South Jefferson in the championship game of the Hoops for the Hospital Tournament, held at Onondaga Community College, Thursday, Dec. 28. The final score was 61-29.
Hannah Morse posted eight points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block. Taylor Kelly also scored eight points, with two rebounds and three steals. Ryanna LaMoreaux added six points. Julia Reilly had four points, one rebound, and one steal.
The Senecas defeated Bishop Grimes, 54-43, in the first round of the Hoops for the Hospital Tournament, Wednesday, Dec. 27.
Morse led with 18 points, eight assists, five steals, and three rebounds. LaMoreaux scored 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block. Danielle Leszyk earned nine points, three rebounds, and one assist. Makenna Fraboni had five points and four rebounds. Clara Chedzoy posted four points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
The Watkins Glen girls varsity basketball team won the championship game of the Melissa B. Wilson Tournament held at Watkins, Saturday, Dec. 23.
The Senecas beat Newfield, 42-15.
Morse posted 12 points, five assists, five steals, and two rebounds. Kelly and Leszyk both had nine points. Chedzoy added seven points, four assists, three rebounds, and three steals. LaMoreaux had three points, five rebounds, and two steals.
The Senecas' defeated Vestal, 49-22, in the first round of the Melissa B. Wilson Tournament, Friday, Dec. 22.
Kelly scored 17 points with four steals, followed Morse with 11 points, five assists, and four steals. LaMoreaux added 10 points and 12 rebounds. Chedzoy posted five points and four rebounds.
Bowling
The Watkins Glen boys varsity bowling team blanked Thomas A. Edison, 4-0, while the girls tied 2-2, Friday, Dec. 22.
Casen Weeden led the boys with a 539. H. Nathaniel Rose posted a 505. Wrett Brower bowled a 493, followed by Steve Bradley with 473 and Wyatt Brower with a 448.
For the girls, Nikole VanDyke bowled a 448. Nancy Jackson added 440. Kendra Cornish posted 396, while Hayley Cornish added 386. Makenzie Kellogg had a 381.
Wrestling
The Watkins Glen varsity wrestling team lost to Odessa-Montour, 48-12, Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Dawson Wade (113) pinned Thomas Rumpff in 1:03. Kameryn Sheldon (220) won by forfeit.
Boys swimming
The Watkins Glen boys varsity swim team fell to Dryden, 80-41, Friday, Dec. 22.
Nathaniel Wickham placed first in the 500 freestyle (6:30.78) and first in the 50 free (25.26). Scott Brubaker took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:34.11, a personal best). He also posted a personal best in the 200 IM (3:00.82), dropping one second from his times in both events. Jacob Asbury dropped nine seconds and got a personal best in the 200 free with a time of 2:46.71.
The Senecas' swim team lost to Waverly, 93-36, Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Peter Sandritter posted personal bests in both the 50 free (31.66) and 100 free (1:11.29). Asbury also got a personal best in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 8:24.03, dropping three seconds. The 200 freestyle relay team of Sandritter, Asbury, Brubaker and Wickham also set a new season best with a time of 2:02.87.
