Dundee football wins against Red Jacket 28-20
DUNDEE--The Dundee varsity football team beat Red Jacket, 28-20, on homecoming, Saturday, Sept. 29.
After being tied 8-8 in the first quarter, the score moved to 22-20, Dundee, through the second and third quarter. A final touchdown by Dundee in the fourth quarter sealed the win.
Joshua Cramer had 22 carries for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Austin Brace added 68 yards over three carries, with one touchdown. Preston Cratsley earned 33 yards on six carries, while Kenneth Empson Jr. had 24 yards on five carries. Gabriel Kirkendall also carried for 22 yards.
Defensively, Cramer had nine tackles and four assists. Cameron Denmark and Preston Cole each tackled seven players. Cratsley added six tackles, while Logan Corey had five.
Volleyball
The Scots' varsity volleyball team fell to Harley Allendale Columbia, 25-9, 25-12, 25-12, Friday, Sept. 28.
Liz Medina earned one dig, one ace, and two tips. Mackenzie Strait had one dig, two tips, one block, and two aces. Abigail Miller posted one tip, two assists, and one ace.
Dundee lost to Hammondsport in three sets, Monday, Sept. 24. The final scores were 25-15, 25-11, 25-10.
Medina had one dig, one attack, and one ace. Allysah Newell earned two attacks, while Megan Sutherland posted one assist and one ace.
Girls soccer
Dundee's girls varsity soccer team fell to visiting Watkins Glen, Friday, Sept. 28. The final score was 6-1.
The Lady Scots lost to Bloomfield, 3-1, Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Haille Empson scored, with an assist from Vivianne Dillon. In goal, Karynna Rutledge had 16 saves.
Cross country
Dundee competed at Williamson, Tuesday, Sept. 25. Matthew Wood placed fifth for the boys (19:10).

Lakers move to a 11-1 record
Hammondsport--The Hammondsport varsity volleyball team topped Campbell-Savona in three sets, Friday, Sept. 28. The final scores were 25-17, 25-13, 25-9.
Shelby Sherman, Erika Hilligus, and Julia Faulkner each had five aces. Sherman also led at the net with eight kills, while Hilligus had six. Julia Bennett added seven kills.
The Lakers' record is now 11-1.
Hammondsport defeated South Seneca, 25-13, 25-16, 25-17, Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Sherman led at the service line with nine aces and had four kills at the net. Bennett put down 11 kills, while Hilligus had five kills and nine digs. Brianna Pratt posted 28 setter assists.
The Lakers won twice in a doubleheader, Monday, Sept. 24. The first win was against Dundee, 25-16, 25-11, 25-10. The second game was against Arkport, 25-1, 25-7, 25-6.
Girls soccer
The Hammondsport girls soccer team blanked Friendship, 3-0, Thursday, Sept. 27.
Hannah Hoerter scored twice, while Cierra Celelli had one goal. Celelli and Jenna Tremaine each assisted once. In the goal, Megan Allen had 10 saves.
The Lakers fell to Addison, Tuesday, Sept. 25. The final score was 7-0. Allen posted 12 saves.
Boys soccer
The Hammondsport boys varsity soccer team fell to Bradford, Friday, Sept. 28. The final score was 4-0.

Penn Yan girls tennis finishes regular season 12-0
PENN YAN--The Penn Yan varsity tennis team finished the regular season with a 12-0 record, clinching the number one seed for Class CC Sectionals last week. The Mustangs beat Palmyra-Macedon, 3-2, Thursday, Sept. 27.
Molly Pullen topped Renee Wilsey, 6-1, 6-1. Claire Pullen won against Grace Stiner, 6-4, 6-0. In doubles, Sydney Moravec and Abby Garvey beat Alexandra Christman and Alea Javorowski, 6-1, 7-5.
Penn Yan defeated Wayne, Wednesday, Sept. 26. The final score was 3-2.
Molly Pullen won against Andrea Banke, 7-5, 6-1. Claire Pullen topped Sylvia Kupcovd, 6-2, 6-2. Moravec and Garvey beat Tiffany Schaumberg and Emma Sutton, 6-2, 6-4.
The Mustangs secured a 4-1 win against Marcus Whitman, Monday, Sept. 24.
Molly Pullen beat Rebecca Frarey, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1, while Claire Pullen topped Alaina Dhondt, 6-4, 6-1.
Jayden Hollister and Grace Worth won against Camry Semans and Jane Snaith, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1. Garvey and Moravec defeated Kaitlyn Hopper and Jennifer Roussell, 6-2, 6-1.
Football
The Mustangs' varsity football team traveled to Newark and took a 34-30 victory, Friday, Sept. 28.
Quarterback Will Rogers was 23-for-33 with three touchdowns and 249 yards. He also carried the ball for two touchdowns.
Brennan Prather scored three touchdowns for the Mustangs catching four passes for 80 yards.
The Mustangs will play their annual homecoming game, Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m.
Girls soccer
The Lady Mustangs' varsity soccer team topped Waterloo, 4-1, Thursday, Sept. 27.
Hayley Andersen scored four goals for Penn Yan, with assists from Sierra Harrison and Elle Harrison. Goalie Elle Harrison had nine saves.
Penn Yan lost to Midlakes, Tuesday, Sept. 25. The final score was 3-1. Leah Moniot scored for the Mustangs, with an assist from Marrianna Dalglish. Harrison had 10 saves.
The Penn Yan team blanked Prattsburgh, 5-0, Monday, Sept. 24.
Kaley Griffin scored twice. Moniot, Mariah Hoover, and Andersen each had one goal. Andersen also posted three assists, while Moniot had one.
Boys soccer
Penn Yan's boys varsity soccer team fell to Mynderse, Wednesday, Sept. 26. The final score was 5-0.
Boys golf
The Penn Yan varsity golf team lost to Geneva, 223-245, Monday, Sept. 24.
Clayton Koivuniemi led with a low of 46. Clark Simmons followed with a 47, including a birdie on 12 (first ever birdie). Kevin Smith golfed a 49, while Cameron Bassage added a 51. Max Brodmann followed with a 52.
Cross country
Penn Yan's Joddie Decker won the girls' meet at Cayuga Lake State Park against Mynderse, Honeoye, and Sodus, Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Decker's time was 21:12. Maci Nicholson followed in second (22:06), while Grace Murphy placed third (22:29). Jaina Doyle took fifth (22:50). Paige McKee was 10th (24:04) and Jenna Curbeau finished 11th (24:18). Kiana Larham was 17th (26:59).
For the boys, Ayden Mowry placed third (18:51). Connor Moore followed in fourth (19:02). David Young took 19th (21:17). Daniel Jiang was 20th (21:18), followed closely by James Tette (21:18).

Seneca Indians football falls 20-19 against HF-L
ODESSA--The Seneca Indians varsity football team suffered a 20-19 loss to Honeoye Falls-Lima during homecoming, Friday, Sept. 28.

The combined Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour team had 222 offensive yards in total. Casen Weeden recorded 98 yards over 14 carries, with two touchdowns. Zach Elliott had 45 yards rushing on 15 carries. Joe Chedzoy added 29 yards on 12 carries.
Derrick Lewis made eight passing attempts, earning 45 yards and one touchdown. Collin Baker had two catches, for 34 yards and a touchdown. Cayden Confer also caught a pass for 11 yards.
Girls swimming
Odessa-Montour's girls varsity swim team lost to Dryden, 101-67, Thursday, Sept. 27.
Tori Reese won the 200 IM (2:33.52) and took first in the 100 butterfly (1:09.88). Kara Reese placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:15.22) and third in the 200 IM (2:47.65). Katie Adams finished third in the 100 butterfly (1:19.44) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:34.93). Megan Adams placed third in the 500 freestyle (6:54.96) and third in the 100 backstroke (1:22.50). Taylor Cain was third in the 50 freestyle (34.09). Madison Moss took second in the 200 freestyle (2:37.07) while Emilee Chaffinch took third in the 200 freestyle (2:38.84).
Volleyball
The Indians' varsity volleyball team were defeated by Newark Valley in four sets, Thursday, Sept. 27. The final scores were 25-22, 15-25, 25-9, 25-11.
Isabel Foote had one ace, one assist, 13 digs, and four service points. Sara Gardner added 10 digs and three service points. Jacy Knapp posted 19 digs and three service points. Cheianne Webster had nine digs and three service points. Karlee Dudgeon earned 16 digs, while Jolynn Minnier had 10.
Odessa lost to Watkins Glen, 3-0, Wednesday, Sept. 26. Individual stats were not provided.
Odessa-Montour fell to Edison, 3-0, Monday, Sept. 24.
Knapp posted one ace, one assist, eight digs, and seven service points. Minnier added four aces, one kill, one block, six digs, and six service points. Foote had two aces, two digs, and four service points. Hannah Chapman had two aces, one kill, two digs, and three service points.
Boys soccer
The Odessa-Montour boys varsity soccer team tied Elmira Notre Dame 0-0, Thursday, Sept. 27.

Watkins volleyball loses to Edison, beats Odessa
WATKINS GLEN--The Watkins varsity volleyball team lost to Thomas A. Edison, Thursday, Sept. 27. The final scores were, 25-15, 19-25, 25-18, 26-24.
Kelsey DeMillo earned nine service points, three aces, and two digs. Katie Losey had seven service points, 11 digs, and six kills. Adrienna Solomon contributed seven service points, three aces, one dig, and five kills. Kelsey Kernan also had seven service points, two aces, two kills, and 23 assists.
Watkins beat Odessa-Montour, 25-19, 25-9, 25-11, Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Solomon posted 11 service points, six aces, and three kills. DeMillo earned 10 service points and six aces. Kernan had nine service points, four aces, one kill, and 12 assists. Losey added five service points and six kills.
The Senecas fell to Candor, Monday, Sept. 24, in three sets: 25-16, 25-9, 25-13.
Losey had two service points and two kills. Solomon posted one service point and one ace, while Kernan added six service points, one kill, and three assists. Carlie Baker contributed one kill and two blocks. Olivia Stephani earned one service point, one ace, one kill, and two blocks.
Girls soccer
The Watkins Glen girls varsity soccer team beat Dundee, 6-1, in an away game, Friday, Sept. 28.
Haley Dean scored half of the Senecas' goals. Cierra Barber, Abby Gibson, and Danielle Leszyk each scored once. Hannah Morse had two assists.
The Watkins girls fell to Waverly, 8-0, Monday, Sept. 24. In goal, Natalie Edmister had 14 saves, while Barber earned two.
Boys soccer
The Senecas' boys varsity soccer team was beaten by Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, Thursday, Sept. 27. The final score was 4-1. Avery Watson scored for Watkins, with an assist from Isaac McIlroy.
Watkins lost to Elmira Notre Dame, 3-1, Tuesday, Sept. 25. Ramel Fulcher scored while McIlroy assisted.
Cross country
The Watkins Glen varsity cross country teams competed at the McQuaid Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 29.
The boys placed 13th in the Seeded Varsity A race for small schools, with Gabe Planty finishing third (15:42.8). Max Evans took 33rd (16:50), while Steven Gublo placed 92nd (18:19.8). Ben Swinnerton was 107th (18:47.9). Lance Majors finished 117th (19:04.1).
The girls ran as an incomplete team in the Unseeded Varsity A-2 race. Kai Sutterby placed 42nd (20:35.3). Makenzie Kellogg took 79th (21:18.2), followed by Breanna Carl in 118th (22:06.4).
Planty finished first in the varsity boys 5000 meter run at the Lansing Dual meet, Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Planty had a time of 17:29.1. Evans was second (18:01.8).
In the varsity girls 5000 meter run, Carl placed fifth (21:50.5). Sutterby followed in sixth (21:58.2).
Girls swimming
The Watkins swim team beat Lansing, 101-67, in a home meet, Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Amanda Wilbur took first in the 100 butterfly (1:05.02) and second in the 200 IM (2:29.41). Peighton Cervoni won the 100 backstroke (1:08.57) and was second in the 100 freestyle (58.05). Allie Gibson was first in the 50 freestyle (26.50).
Jillian Cantieni finished second in the 200 freestyle (2:16.46) and second in the 500 freestyle (6:04.30). Madeleine Kilcoyne placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:09.61), while Faye Mooney was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.21).
