Odessa-Montour boys swimming tops Dryden 49-44
ODESSA--The Odessa-Montour boys varsity swim team topped Dryden, 49-44, Thursday, Dec. 6.
Coach Terri Brace said Odessa went into the last event, the 400 yard freestyle relay, leading by one point. She explained, "Whoever won the relay would win the meet. The relay was very close, with O-M in the lead most of the way, until anchor Brett Walters dove in and stretched the lead six seconds to win the meet."
The 400 free relay team (Bailey Hornbrook, Micah Brewster, Johnny Niedermaier, and Walters) won first in 4:07.32. The 200 free relay team (Walters, Niedermaier, Brewster, and Hornbrook) took first in 1:49.16.
Brewster placed first in the 200 freestyle (2:20.72) and first in the 500 freestyle (6:44.13). Walters was first in the 50 freestyle (25.38) and second in the 100 backstroke (1:13.12). Hornbrook took second in the 200 IM (2:41.91) and 100 freestyle (1:05.52). Caleb Thomas was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:30.50).
The Indians defeated the Watkins Glen Senecas, 57-36, Tuesday, Dec. 4.
The 200 medley relay team (Niedermaier, Tyler Carson, Walters, and Hornbrook) won in 2:09.70. The 200 free relay team (Walters, Niedermaier, Brewster, and Hornbrook) took first with 1:53.18.
Walters was first in the 200 free (2:14.92) and first in the 100 fly (1:11.76). Hornbrook took first in the 100 free (1:02.35) and 200 IM (2:43.59). Niedermaier finished first in the 50 free (27.22) and 100 backstroke (1:18.25). Brewster was first in the 500 free (6:37.72). Thomas was second in the 50 free (30.09) and second in the 100 breaststroke (1:30.08). Justin Ruocco took second in the 100 free (1:12.34).
Girls basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls varsity basketball team topped Spencer-Van Etten, Friday, Dec. 7. The final score was 41-25.
Olivia Grover led with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals. Kennedey Heichel earned 10 points and four assists. Alexis Saunders added nine points and five rebounds. Sara Gardner posted six points. Kara Reese scored two points, while Jolynn Minnier had one.
Boys basketball
The Odessa-Montour boys varsity basketball team fell to Spencer-Van Etten 44-25, Friday, Dec. 7.
Paden Grover scored 10 points. Zach Elliott had seven points, while Devon Mahaney and Derrick Lewis earned three points each. Preston Harris and Deshawn Johnson each scored once.
"Points were hard to come by with Spencer playing a stingy man-to-man defense," said Coach Matt Johnston. "They made us take shots that we didn't want to take and the score was a result of how hard they play defensively. I thought we did a pretty decent job on them defensively and holding them to 44 points but we couldn't get anything going on the offensive end."
The Indians lost to Southern Cayuga, Tuesday, Dec. 4. The final score was 56-48.
Leading the offense was Grover with 15 points. Elliott scored 13. Mahaney added nine points, including two three-point shots. Harris had five points, while Lewis earned four.
Wrestling
The Odessa-Montour varsity wrestling team placed 11th in the 12th Annual Ark-Can Tournament, Friday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 8.
Odessa beat Alfred Almond, 37-36, to earn a 2-7 record in the tournament.
Dylan Houseknecht was 9-0 at the event.
Bowling
The Odessa-Montour boys varsity bowling team defeated Candor, 3-1, Thursday, Dec. 6.
Eric Rumsey led with a 616 score. Dominic Elliott added 416, followed by Colton Chapman with 404. Wes Wade posted 331. Austin Hoyt added a 315.
The girls bowling team lost, 4-0. Jackie Vincent had a 536. Pixie Kinner bowled a 357, followed be Jana Arias with a 355. Dezirae Minnier posted 342. Taryn Hoyt added 339.
The Indians' boys and girls bowling teams lost to Lansing, Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Rumsey recorded a 434 for the boys. Chapman added a 425. Hoyt earned a 322, followed by Wade with a 256.
For the girls, Kinner posted 549. Vincent earned a 493 and Arias added 342.

Watkins boys basketball falls to Addison, tops Edison
ADDISON--The Watkins Glen boys varsity basketball team fell to Addison, Saturday, Dec. 8. The final score was 58-51.
The boys defeated Edison, Friday, Dec. 7, 62-33.
Isaac McIlroy scored 20 points and was followed by Joe Chedzoy with 18.
Girls basketball
Watkins' girls varsity basketball team beat Thomas A. Edison in an away game, 81-19, Friday, Dec. 7.
Kelsey Kernan and Hannah Morse both scored 16 points. Kernan also posted eight rebounds, while Morse had seven assists. Adrienna Solomon earned 15 points, 18 rebounds, five steals, and seven assists. Taylor Kelly had 14 points, followed by Danielle Leszyk with 11 points. Alexandria LaMoreaux scored four points.
The Senecas defeated Lansing, 69-17, Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Kelly had 14 points, five rebounds, two steals, and two assists. Morse earned 13 points, two rebounds, and four assists. Solomon followed with 11 points, four steals, two blocks, and four assists. Leszyk posted 10 points, seven steals, and two blocks. Kathleen Clifford, Kernan, and Jena Slater all scored six points.
Bowling
The Watkins Glen boys varsity bowling team beat Waverly, 3-1, Friday, Dec. 7.
Wrett Brower led with a 593. Casen Weeden had a 575. Alex Pesco posted a 530. Wyatt Brower earned a 503, while Matt Irwin bowled a 501.
The girls fell 3-1. Nikole Vandyke led with a 515. Hayley Cornish had a 506 total. Nancy Jackson added a 393, followed by Makenzie Kellogg with a 387. Alyiah Clink-Bentley had a 338.
The Senecas' boys blanked Union Springs/Port Byron, Thursday, Dec. 6. The final score was 4-0.
H. Nathaniel Rose led with a 667. Weeden added a 554, while Wrett Brower had a 527. Matt Irwin bowled a 466. Pesco posted a 416.
Watkins' girls lost, 4-0. Vandyke bowled a 497, followed by Jackson with 496. Cornish had 454. Kellogg posted a 370.
Boys swimming
The Watkins Glen boys varsity swim team lost to Odessa-Montour, 57-36, Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Daine Butler took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:25.93) and second in the 200 IM (2:53.00). Nathaniel Wickham was second in the 200 freestyle (2:22.27). Scott Brubaker finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:35.45) and third in the 200 IM (2:58.85).
Steven Gublo placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:30.50), while Ben Swinnerton took third in the 50 freestyle (32.90) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:31.86). Clint Craven was third in the 200 freestyle (2:51.95). James Jensen was third in the 100 freestyle (1:17.64). Owen Bingham finished third in the 100 backstroke (1:49.90).
Indoor track
The Watkins Glen boys varsity indoor track team placed 18th at the Bomber Invitational, held at Ithaca College, Saturday, Dec. 8.
The Watkins Glen top finisher for the day was Gabe Panty running the 3200 meter in 9:53.73 taking third place overall.
In the 55 meter, Nick Wilston placed 60th (7.49) and Lawrence Majors was 69th (7.92). Sam Thorsland finished 47th in the 1600 meter run (5:29.78). Majors was also 48th in the 600 meter run (1:43.82, a personal record). Cale Sutterby took 63rd in the 300 meter (49.4, a personal record).
The girls indoor track team also competed. In the 1000 meter run Kai Sutterby placed 14th (3:31.75, a personal record), while Breanna Carl was 25th (3:46.2). In the 55 meter, Haley Dean was 46th (8.48) and Jill Cantieni finished 54th (8.83). Dean also took 38th in the 300 meter (49.04, a personal record).

Dundee boys basketball loses two; girls win twice
NAPLES--The Dundee boys varsity basketball team lost to Naples, Friday, Dec. 7. The final score was 55-29.
Dundee fell to Romulus, 60-49, Wednesday, Dec. 5. Preston Cratsley led with 18 points. Brandon Edmister posted 13 points.
Girls basketball
The Lady Scots varsity basketball team beat Campbell-Savona, 35-34, Friday, Dec. 7.
Hallie Knapp led with 13 points and 12 rebounds, going 7-for-8 at the free throw line. Megan Sutherland added 11 points, including three three-point shots and nine rebounds. Makenzie Cratsley posted four points and 16 rebounds.
The Dundee girls basketball team defeated Naples, Thursday, Dec. 6. The final score was 75-45.
Delaine Nolan posted 18 points. Strait and Cratsley both scored 15 points. Knapp earned 12 points, followed by Sutherland with 11 points. Savannah Eaves and Alyssah Newell added two points.
Dundee fell to Romulus, 52-42, Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Leading for the Lady Scots was Sutherland with 15 points. Strait added 13 points, five rebounds, and five steals, while Cratsley posted nine points, 11 rebounds, and four steals.
Wrestling
The Dundee varsity wrestling team placed 12th in the 12th Annual Ark-Can Wrestling Tournament, Friday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 8. Rush-Henrietta won the event.
Dundee fell to South Seneca, 66-12, Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Paul Knapp (132) pinned Keagan Combs in 4:59. Kenneth Empson (170) beat Josh Wilkins in 1:03.
Bowling
Dundee's boys and girls varsity bowling team topped Naples, Thursday, Dec. 6.
The boys won 5-0. Hunter Murphy posted a 636. Stephan Smith added a 545. Connor Muck bowled a 515. Matthew Pollack had a 390.
The girls won 4-1. Mercedez Roy led with a 399. Jaedyn Brewer followed with a 382. Sam Hunt posted a 373.
The Lady Scots varsity bowlers blanked Newark, 5-0, Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Edele Morgan led with a 424. Roy added a 358. Hunt bowled a 340, while Brewer had a 325.
The boys lost 5-0. Smith earned a 543. Murphy bowled a 519, followed by Muck with a 513. Pollack posted a 449.
Indoor track
Dundee runners competed with the Watkins Glen team at the Bomber Invitational, held at Ithaca College, Saturday, Dec. 8.
Lily Hall was ninth in the long jump (15'6.25") and 11th in the triple jump (32'7.5"). Matthew Wood took 19th in the 3200 meter run (10:31.45) and 21st in the 600 meter run (1:34.86).

Penn Yan bowling beats Marcus Whitman, Naples
PENN YAN--The Penn Yan girls and boys varsity bowling teams beat Marcus Whitman, 5-0 and 4-1 respectively, Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Kari Ayers had a 548, followed by Emilie Thomas with a 509. Emily Augustine recorded a 480. Brandee Ellis posted a 435. Mckelvie Jensen added a 432.
For the boys, Zach Gurba posted a 587. Cameron Bassage bowled a 562 and Jon Mashewske a 543.
The Mustangs' bowling teams both beat Naples, 5-0, Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Trenton Samaltuski bowled a 628. Connor Harmon added a 618. Bassage posted a 592, followed by Mashewske with a 559. Gurba earned a 549.
For the girls, Ayers led with a 608. Augustine had a 468, while Thomas added a 457. Rielly Stewart posted 445.
Girls basketball
The Lady Mustangs varsity basketball team lost to Rush-Henrietta, 48-42, Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Haylea Langan led with 10 points, three assists, nine rebounds, and two blocks. Sierra Harrison posted nine points, three rebounds, and one block. Jammie Decker also earned nine points, one assist, three rebounds, one block, and one steal. Ashley Sisson scored six points, with eight rebounds and two blocks. Jenna Curbeau added three points, two assists, four rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. Peyton Comfort and Joddie Decker each posted two points. Comfort also had six rebounds, while Decker had four. Logan Broome had one point and one rebound.
Boys basketball
The Penn Yan boys varsity basketball team lost to Wayne, 61-39, Friday, Dec. 7.
Conner Fingar scored nine points. Mason Kuver and Kyle Berna both had seven points. Brennan Prather added six, while Peter Nicholson and Peyton Schuck scored four each. Kyler Lloyd posted two points.
The Mustangs secured a 49-48 win against World of Inquiry, Monday, Dec. 3. Individual statistics were not provided.
Wrestling
The Marcus Whitman/Penn Yan varsity wrestling team placed eighth in the Dave Buck Memorial Elmira Christmas Wrestling Tournament, Saturday, Dec. 8.
Jarred Calice (138) and Dylan Howell (145) both placed second in their weight classes. Aiden Mowry (113) finished third. Justin Smith (132) and Charlie Burgess (138) both took fourth.

Hammondsport Lady Lakers win two games
HAMMONDSPORT--The Lakers' girls varsity basketball team topped Jasper-Troupsburg, 44-29, Friday, Dec. 7.
Jillian Underhill led with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Maddie Sprague scored 10 points, with seven rebounds. Destiny Hammond added seven points and 11 rebounds, while Ana Salom posted six points and nine rebounds. Amanda O'Donnell, Shelby Sherman and Erika Hilligus each scored two points.
Hammondsport defeated Alfred-Almond, Wednesday, Dec. 5. The final score was 64-39.
Salom posted 22 points and eight rebounds, followed by Sprague with 18 points. Underhill contributed 10 points and eight rebounds. Hilligus added six points. Tea' Flynn and Hammond both scored three points. Sherman earned two.
Boys basketball
The Lakers' boys varsity basketball team fell to Jasper Troupsburg, 44-40, Friday, Dec. 7.
Parker Watson and CJ Hill both scored seven points. Johnathon Wells contributed six.
Hammondsport took a loss to Alfred-Almond in overtime, 50-49, Tuesday, Dec. 4. Watson led with 18 points. Wells added 11 points.
The Lakers fell to Naples, Monday, Dec. 3. The final score was 54-42. Hammondsport took the lead in the first and later in the fourth quarter, but to no avail. Watson scored 15 points, with eight rebounds.
