SPORTS RECAP: Week of 10-21-20

Penn Yan Girls Soccer
The Penn Yan girls soccer team hosted Midlakes, Friday, Oct. 16. The Lady Mustangs won 1-0.
The soccer team also defeated Wayne, 3-1, Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Individual scoring statistics were not provided for either game.

Penn Yan Boys Soccer
The Mustangs boys soccer team defeated Newark, Saturday, Oct. 17. David Reid had two goals for Penn Yan, with the game-winner five minutes left in the game.
Mason Mackerchar had two saves and Tommy Barden recorded four saves.
The soccer team also defeated Geneva, 1-0, Tuesday, Oct. 13.
The Penn Yan goal was by William Steel with an assist by Caiden DeMarco.
Mackerchar made six saves.

Penn Yan Girls Tennis
The Penn Yan tennis team shutout Geneva, 5-0, Saturday, Oct. 17. Molly Pullen won 10-8, Claire Pullen, 10-3 and Abigail Garvey, 10-0. The doubles team of Jayden Hollister and Sydney Moravec won 10-2 and the second doubles team of Sam Denson and Grace Swarthout were victorious 10-1.
The girls also won two matches on Monday, Oct. 12. Penn Yan defeated Midlakes 5-0 and Wayne 4-1.

Penn Yan Cross Country
Penn Yan hosted Midlakes, Pal-Mac and Sodus at the Yates Community Center, Saturday, Oct. 17.
James Tette led the boys in first with a 18.48.50. Aven Foster was third in 19.20.92. Anthony Wheeler was 14th with a 24.23.19.
Joddie Decker and Jaina Doyle were second and third respectively with times of 22:35.78 and 24:24.89. Grace Murphy was seventh with a 26:30.99 and was followed by Adriana Rodriguez in eighth (27:06.51).

Penn Yan Golf
Penn Yan traveled to The Links At Greystone to face Wayne, Friday, Oct. 16. Penn Yan lost 231-241. Max Brodmann shot a 41 with birdies on holes one and nine. Clayton Koivuniemi recorded a 44.
The Mustangs defeated Pal-Mac, Wednesday, Oct. 14. The final score was 219-228. Koivuniemi and Brodmann both had 41s. Kevin Smith shot a 43.
Penn Yan fell to Geneva 209-236, Tuesday, Oct. 13. Brodmann and Koivuniemi led the team with a 43 and 44 respectively.

Hammondsport Boys Soccer
Hammondsport's boys varsity soccer team tied Addison 1-1, Friday, Oct. 16.
Nevin Davis scored with an assist by Cooper Watson.
The Lakers were defeated by Alfred-Almond, Wednesday, Oct. 14. The final score was 2-0. Hammondsport had three shots, two corner kicks and 20 saves in goal.

Hammondsport Girls Soccer
The Hammondsport girls soccer team lost to Addison, Thursday, Oct. 15. The final score was 6-1. Scoring and goalkeeping statistics were not provided.
The Lakers fell to Alfred-Almond 5-1, Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Danica Dresser recorded Hammondsport's goal and Rorie Whitcomb had 12 saves.

Hammondsport Cross Country
Hammondsport hosted Cuba-Rushford, Friday, Oct. 16. The Lakers took the top five spots in the race. Eli Hill (21:17), Liam Kressly (21:18), George Drake (21:18), Blake Wright (21:48) and Andrew Morrison (25:39) were first through fifth respectively.
Both schools had incomplete teams for the girls race.

Dundee Girls Soccer
The Dundee/Bradford girls varsity soccer team fell to Bloomfield, Wednesday, Oct. 14. The final score was 5-0. Kirsta Sleve made 12 saves for the Lady Scots.

Dundee Boys Soccer
The Dundee/Bradford boys soccer team lost to Bloomfield, 2-1, Thursday, Oct. 15. Dundee had nine shots, one corner kick and six saves in goal.

Dundee Cross Country
Dundee's cross county team competed at North Rose-Wolcott, Saturday, Oct. 17.
For the boys, Cam Buchanan was 13th in 21:33. Alex Leonard took 17th in 22:58 and Gabe Dillon was 18th with a 23:07.
Alissa Eaves finished in eighth for the girls with a 26:43. Rachael Butler was 14th with a 31:20..
