SPORTS RECAP: Week of 3-31-21

Dundee Volleyball
The Dundee varsity volleyball team faced Harley-Allendale Columbia, Campbell-Savona, South Seneca and Midlakes last week.
Dundee fell to HAC, 12-25, 17-25, 18-25, Tuesday, March 23. Makenzie Cratsley had two kills, three aces and one dig. Abby Miller had four aces, four blocks and one dig.
The Lady Scots lost to Campbell-Savona, 17-25, 25-22, 25-13, 20-25, 15-25, Wednesday, March 24. Cratsley recorded four aces, three kills and two digs. Miller had seven kills, one assist, three aces, one block and two digs. Lily Hall added one kill, seven assists, one ace, two blocks and one dig. Renae Gregory had one kill, seven assists, one ace and three digs. Tianna Strickland contributed two kills and eight digs.
Dundee was beaten in three games by South Seneca, Thursday, March 25. The game scores were 13-25, 17-25, 11-25. Hailey Strickland recorded two kills, one ace and 17 digs. Tianna Strickland had one kill and 13 digs. Miller and Cratsley had four and three digs, respectively.
The girls lost a Saturday, March 27 game against Midlakes, 14-25, 26-24, 13-25, 24-26. Cratsley had three kills and four aces. Hailey Strickland added one ace, two blocks and 10 digs. Kayla Andrews recorded six aces and one dig.

Penn Yan Volleyball
The Penn Yan volleyball team won one game and lost two last week.
The Mustangs started off with a three-game victory against Hammondsport, Monday, March 22. The scores were 25-6, 25-19, 25-5. Jammie Decker had seven aces, seven kills and two digs. Paige Yonts added four aces and one dig. Faith Baker contributed one ace, four kills and one dig. Hailey Trank had three aces, three kills and 10 assists.
The girls then fell to Wayne, Wednesday, March 24. The game scores were 11-25, 20-25, 14-25. Decker recorded two aces, five kills and four digs. Hailey Trank had two aces, one kill and nine assists.
Penn Yan also lost to Newark, Friday, March 26. The Mustangs fell in three games, 21-25, 18-25, 23-25.

Penn Yan/Dundee Football
The Penn Yan/Dundee football team fell to Waterloo 36-21, Friday, March 26.
Passing, Carter Earl was 13-for-23 with 94 yards and a touchdown. Mekhi Mahan rushed for 115 yards on 19 carries for two touchdowns. Kyler Lloyd recorded four receptions for 26 yards and one touchdown. Julien Miller also had four receptions but had 36 yards total.
On defense, Mahan led with seven tackles and a fumble recovery. Mason Petersen and Nick Slavick each had six tackles and Jakson Jones had one tackle and one interception.
The combined football team will host their first home game of the season, Thursday, April 1 against Mynderse Academy. The game time is 6 p.m.

Bowling
The Dundee and Bradford school districts have announced the girls varsity bowling squad as a New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete team for the winter season.
To receive a team distinction, the teams average GPA for 75 percent of the roster must be 90 percent or above. Once the calculation is made, students on the team with a 90 percent grade point average or above will also be recognized individually. This was calculated based on the second marking period GPA.
Girls varsity bowling - calculated GPA 94.6. Team members with a 90+ average: Jaedyn Brewer, Cassandra Morrissette, Cheyenne Cummings, McKenna Miller and Kayla Andrews.

Hammondsport Volleyball
The Hammondsport varsity volleyball team lost two games and won one last week.
The Lakers opened the week with a loss to Penn Yan, 6-25, 19-25, 5-25. Brianna Hill and Seneca Boscoe had two aces each and Holley Kolo had three kills.
The girls then lost a hard-fought five-game match against Addison, Wednesday, March 24. Game scores were: 26-24, 24-26, 25-18, 24-26, 18-25. Boscoe led at the service line with 13 aces followed by Hill with eight. Kolo led at the net with 19 kills and four blocks.
Hammondsport fell to Arkport-Canaseraga in four games, Saturday, March 27. The scores were 13-25, 23-25, 25-18, 18-25.

Watkins Glen Boys Soccer
The Watkins Glen boys soccer team defeated Odessa-Montour, 4-1, Thursday, March 25. Seamus Mooney, Dylan Morse, Georgio Fazzary and Jacob Yontz all scored for the Senecas.
The boys also beat Newfield, 2-1, Tuesday, March 23. Stoyan Bond had two goals in the overtime victory.

Girls Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour girls swimming team defeated Dryden, 109-61, Tuesday, March 23.
First place finishes were recorded by Thalia Marquez (200 free and 100 butterfly), Alannah Klemann (200 IM and 100 breaststroke), Faye Mooney (100 free) and Kendra Fish (100 backstroke).
The three relay teams also took first place. The 200 medley relay team included Klemann, Mooney, Amanda Wilbur and Marquez. The 200 freestyle relay team included Fish, Emily Melveney, Megan Adams and Malina Butler. The 400 freestyle relay team included Mooney, Wilbur, Klemann and Marquez.

Watkins Glen Volleyball
The Watkins Glen volleyball team fell to Waverly and Edison last week. The girls lost both games 3-1. Individual stats were not provided.

Odessa-Montour Boys Soccer
The Odessa-Montour boys soccer team lost two games last week.
The Indians fell to Watkins Glen, 4-1, Thursday, March 25.
The boys also lost to Trumansburg 6-0, Tuesday, March 23.

Odessa-Montour Girls Soccer
The Odessa-Montour girls soccer team lost to Waverly 4-2, Friday, March 26.
The girls also fell to Newark Valley 5-2, Wednesday, March 24, after a loss on Monday, March 23 to the same team, 2-0.
Individual stats were not provided.

Odessa-Montour Volleyball
The Odessa-Montour volleyball team lost to Tioga, 3-0, Friday, March 26. The game scores were 4-25, 10-25 and 11-25. Samantha Sipes had three service points and one ace. Hali Daugherty had two service points. Emma Landon recorded two service points and one assist.
The girls lost to Newfield, 7-25, 18-25 and 15-25, Wednesday, March 24. Madisyn Wells had seven service points and one ace. Daugherty added five service points and one ace.
The volleyball team also fell to Candor, Monday, March 22. The game scores were: 12-25, 10-25 and 3-25. .
