Yates, Schuyler each have 23 percent fully vaccinated
FINGER LAKES--As vaccine clinics continue to be held weekly, the New York state vaccine dashboard now reports 23 percent of people in Yates County are fully vaccinated. That number increases to nearly 34 percent for people with at least one dose. In Schuyler, 23 percent of people (4,185) are fully vaccinated. 6,074 people or 34 percent have at least one dose. Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday, April 5, updated New Yorkers on the state's vaccination efforts. 117,418 doses have been administered across the state's distribution network in the last 24 hours, and more than 1.4 million doses have been administered over the past seven days. "As we prepare to expand eligibility to all New Yorkers over the age of 16, New York's vaccination program is moving full steam ahead to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic once and for all," Cuomo said. "We're opening new vaccination sites around the state and preparing for a future increase in supply. It's important that residents and their families continue to practice safe behaviors in the interim as more and more people take the vaccine. More than 10 million New Yorkers have received a first dose and we're not stopping now, but there's a long way to go until we've reached a comfortable level of safety for all New Yorkers." Local vaccine clinic information can be found online at https://www.yatescounty.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=195 and https://www.schuylercounty.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=469. The governor also announced on Monday the 11 p.m. curfew currently in place for casinos, movie theaters, bowling alleys, billiards halls, gyms and fitness centers will be lifted. The 11 p.m. curfew for food and beverage establishments and the 12 a.m. curfew for catered events remains in effect. Both curfews will be evaluated later this month. Tuesday, April 6 marks the beginning of all adult New Yorkers being eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. A statewide ad campaign called "Roll Up Your Sleeve" will begin being shown on television and online to encourage vaccination. The ads were directed by Contagion screenplay writer Scott Burns and shot at New York City's Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
