SPORTS RECAP: Week of 5-12-21

Penn Yan Boys Lacrosse
The Penn Yan boys lacrosse team improved to 4-0 with three wins last week.
On Saturday, May 8 the team defeated Pal-Mac 9-2. Ayden Mowry had four goals and one assist. Devon Gerhardt recorded two goals and four assists. Mekhi Mahan, Teagen Fingar and Max Brodmann each scored once. Griffin Emerson made nine saves in the cage.
The boys beat Geneva 15-8, Thursday, May 6. The game was tied 6-6 at halftime.
Brodmann scored six goals. Mowry added four, while Gerhardt had three goals and three assists. Mahan scored once as did Fingar. Carter Earl added three assists. Emerson made four saves as goalie.
The Mustangs won against Bath, Tuesday, May 4. The final score was 15-7.
Mowry had five goals and two assists in the game. Mahan, Fingar, Gerhardt, Brodmann each had two goals. Thomas Barden and Caden Dixon added a goal apiece. Gerhardt led with five assists, while Mowry had two. Emerson made five saves.

Penn Yan Girls Lacrosse
The Penn Yan girls lacrosse team defeated Marcus Whitman, 11-5, Friday, May 7.
Hayley Anderson led with six goals and one assist. Kaley Griffin had two goals in the game. Grace Ledgerwood, Reilly Cohick and Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger each scored once.
In the goal, Hannah Parsons made 11 saves.

Penn Yan Baseball
The Penn Yan baseball team defeated Midlakes, 6-2, Friday, May 7.
Pitcher Clark Simmons had nine strikeouts in five innings. Brady Bouchard added two strikeouts in two innings.
Simmons was also 1-for-3 at the plate. Alex Foster was 1-for-2 as was Bouchard.
The baseball team fell to Wayne 4-2, Thursday, May 6.
Tyler Bouchard was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Penn Yan Softball
The Penn Yan softball team lost to Wayne, 12-6, Thursday, May 6.
Giana Ficcaglia had six strikeouts and two walks on the mound. She also had a home run batting in the sixth inning.
Defensively, Elle Harrison also made an out for Penn Yan in a hot box.
The girls defeated Pal-Mac 15-9, Monday, May 3.
Ficcaglia had 14 strikeouts in the game. Kiana Larham recorded a triple at the plate.
Coach Melissa Armsden said, "This was a great first game. The girls have been waiting so long for softball from COVID and this was the perfect way to start our season."

Penn Yan Track
The track team competed in the Hornell Hybrid Invitational, Friday. May, 7.
Joddie Decker was first in the girls steeplechase and second in the girls 800. Jaina Doyle was third in the steeple.
JD Tette took second in the boys steeplechase. Carson Nagpaul was third in the boys triple jump. Anthony Wheeler was third in the boys 800.

Dundee/Bradford Baseball
The combined Dundee/Bradford Bravescots lost to Bloomfield, Thursday, May 6. The final score was 7-3.
The Bravescots notched three runs in the fourth inning. Contributing to the big inning included Tyler Spina and Tyler Stiles, all driving in runs.
Stiles started the game for Dundee/Bradford. The pitcher went four and a third innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out five. Spina threw two and two-thirds innings in relief.
Max Bailey and Stiles each managed multiple hits in the game.

Dundee/Bradford Softball
The Dundee/Bradford softball team fell to Bloomfield 6-2, Thursday, May 6.
Cambri Harrian was in the circle for the BraveScots. The righty went four innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out seven and walking one. Kailey Yeoman and Addie Kendall entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one and one-third innings respectively.
The BraveScots tallied five hits. Mikayla Schoffner and Madison Sutryk each had two hits.
The softball team defeated South Seneca, 8-2, Tuesday, May 4. Schoffner had a run-scoring triple in the first inning. The BraveScots notched three runs in the fourth inning. Makenzie Cratsley, Schoffner, and Kirsta Sleve each had RBIs in the inning.
Harrian had 10 strikeouts in the game. Harrian and Schoffner each contributed two hits in the game.
The team also beat Prattsburgh/Avoca Monday, May 3. The final score was 9-3. Harrian had 13 strikeouts for the win. Madison Sutry was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI's, Schoffner was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Kendall was 1-2.

Dundee Track
Dundee hosted a track meet, Monday, May 3.
Hallie Knapp was first in the girls shot put and discus with throws of 27' 1.50" and 95' 4" respectively.
Kendall Parker was second in the girls long jump. She was also second in the high jump. Alissa Eaves took second in the girls 400 meter dash.
Peyton Boudinot was first in the boys pole vault with a 9' 3" final.
Hunter Crofoot took first in the shot put with a 41' 7.75" throw.
Brady Richardson was third in the 200 meter dash, Steven Webster was third in the 400 meter dash and Boudinot was third in the 800 meter dash.

Hammondsport Golf
The Hammondsport golf team beat Campbell-Savona 197 strokes to 361, Thursday, May 6.
Hammondsport was led by medalist Ben Cole's 40, Gavyn Hann's 45 and Cooper Watson's 54.
The Lakers fell to Addison 184 to 205, Wednesday, May 5. Hammondsport was led by Ben Cole with a 43. Gavyn Hann and Cooper Watson reach recorded 47's.

Seneca Indians Baseball
The combined Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour baseball team played Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, Thursday, May 6. Without umpires at the game, it was ruled a scrimmage and official stats were not kept. However, ESPN Ithaca was broadcasting the game on the radio and called the score as 8-7 in favor of the Seneca Indians.

Watkins Glen Softball
The Watkins Glen softball team lost to Spencer-Van Etten, 11-0, Friday, May 7.
Natalie Edmister was on the mound for Watkins Glen.
The softball team fell to Waverly 29-0, Thursday, May 6.
Ava Barber had the only hit and stole a base.

Watkins Glen Golf
The Watkins Glen golf team defeated Odessa-Montour, Friday, May 7. The final score was 197-217.
Daniel Ely had a team-low 43 for Watkins Glen. Georgio Fazzary had a 48, Luke Spahalski a 53 and Ben Swinnerton a 53.
The golf team fell to Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, Thursday, May 6. The final score was 180-196. Fazzary recorded the low score of 42. Swinnerton had a 49.
The golf team also beat Trumansburg 212-217, Tuesday, May 4.

Watkins Glen Lacrosse
The Watkins Glen lacrosse team fell to Whitney Point, 17-5, Tuesday, May 4.
Matt Irwin and Seamus Mooney each had two goals in the game. Nick D'Alleva added one. Connor Novinsky made 10 saves in goal.

Watkins Glen Track
The Watkins Glen boys and girls track teams hosted a non-scoring meet, Wednesday, May 5.
Coach Mathew Mangus and Kelly Sterner said, "Overall the meet was very successful as there were numerous personal bests. [We] were proud of the grit and determination each athlete demonstrated. [The team travels to] Waverly, Tuesday for a dual meet."

Odessa-Montour Softball
The Odessa-Montour softball team fell to Tioga, Friday, May 7. The final score was 19-0.
Anna Beckley and Mackenzie Cannon each had hits in the game.
The softball team lost to Candor, 19-0, Thursday, May 6. There were five hits in the game for Odessa.

Odessa-Montour Golf
The Odessa-Montour golf team lost to Watkins Glen, 197-217, Friday, May 7. David Patterson recorded the team low of 48 in the match.
The golf team fell to Waverly 197-228, Thursday, May 6. Patterson had a 54 and Eliza Starkweather and Benson Patterson each recorded a 56..
