SPORTS RECAP: Week of 5-26-21

Penn Yan Boys Lacrosse
The Penn Yan boys lacrosse team moved to 9-0 including two shutouts last week.
The boys won over Aquinas 14-2, Saturday, May 22. Ayden Mowry scored six goals for Penn Yan. Devon Gerhardt, Max Brodmann and Mekhi Mahan each scored twice. Gerhardt also recorded five assists. Carter Earl and Jesse Young each scored once. Griffin Emerson made five saves in the cage.
The Mustangs defeated Waterloo, 19-0, Thursday, May 20. Scoring were Mowry (five goals and one assist), Mahan (four goals and two assists), Earl (two goals and one assist), Teagen Fingar (two goals and one assist), Brodmann (one goal and two assists), Gerhardt (one goal and two assists), Anthony Druker (one goal), Thomas Barden (one goal and one assist), Jesse Young (one goal), and Caden Dixon (one goal). Oliver Connelly also added two assists. Emerson made one save and Wil Thompson, three as the goalie.
Penn Yan also topped Mynderse 19-0, Tuesday, May 18. Fingar and Gerhardt each scored four goals. Brodmann added three, as did Connelly. Mahan and Mowry each scored twice. Earl added an additional goal. Goaltenders Emerson and Thompson had two and one saves, respectively.

Penn Yan Girls Lacrosse
The Penn Yan girls won two and lost one game last week.
The Mustangs beat Livonia, 17-5, Friday, May 21. Grace Ledgerwood led with seven goals and two assists. Hayley Anderson recorded three goals and four assists. Avery Castner added three goals, while Kaley Griffin had two and Taylor Mullins and Corinne Barden, one. Hannah Parsons made 15 saves in the cage.
The girls defeated Aquinas, 9-8, Wednesday, May 19. Anderson contributed five goals and two assists. Ledgerwood had two goals. Griffin and Barden each had one. Parsons made nine saves.
Penn Yan fell to Pal-Mac, Monday, May 17. The final score was 12-7. Ledgerwood led in goals scored with three. Anderson and Griffin each had two. Aubriana Green assisted twice and Jammie Decker and Kendall Bailey each had one. Goalie Parsons made nine saves.

Penn Yan Baseball
The Penn Yan baseball team lost to Palmyra-Macedon 11-4, Friday, May 21. The boys also fell to Waterloo 5-0, Monday, May 17. No additional stats were provided.

Penn Yan Softball
The Penn Yan varsity softball team fell to Mynderse 9-6, Wednesday, May 19. Giana Ficcaglia had seven strikeouts for Penn Yan.
The girls lost to Waterloo 22-6, Monday, May 17. Kiana Larham doubled in the first, Ficcaglia tripled in the fifth at the plate for the Mustangs.

Penn Yan Track
The Penn Yan track team competed at the Wayne Invitational, Saturday, May 22.
For the girls, Joddie Decker was third in the 3000 meter run. Rayna Rios was fifth in the shot put. Alexxis Henry took fourth in the pentathlon.
In the boys competition, Dominic Lafferty was first in the pentathlon. James Tette was third in the steeplechase.

Penn Yan Tennis
The Penn Yan tennis team fell to Harley-Allendale Columbia 5-0, Friday, May 21.
The team also fell to Honeoye 4-1, Tuesday, May 18. Winning for the Mustangs were Eric Fingar and Bryan Smith in the first doubles match.
Penn Yan lost to Wayne 5-0, Monday, May 17.

Dundee/Bradford Baseball
The Dundee/Bradford BraveScots baseball team last four games last week.
Friday, May 21, the boys fell to South Seneca/Romulus 6-4. Shane DeCamp and Tyler Stiles each had RBIs in the game. Tyler Spina had five strikeouts on the mound.
The boys lost a close game to Honeoye 8-7, Thursday, May 20. Max Bailey had four hits at the plate, while DeCamp recorded three and Stiles two. Bailey also had three RBIs. Stiles recorded five strikeouts pitching for the BraveScots.
The baseball team lost to Red Jacket, 7-6, Tuesday, May 18. DeCamp, Stiles and Spina each had two hits. Spina also added two RBIs.
Dundee/Bradford lost to Prattsburgh/Avoca, Monday, May 17. The final score was 16-2.

Dundee/Bradford Softball
The Dundee/Bradford softball team picked up three wins last week bringing the season record to 8-1.
The softball team easily defeated Honeoye on the road, Thursday, May 20. The final score was 18-7. Addie Kendall had four hits in the game, while Mikayla Schoffner and Cambri Harrian each had three. Cheyenne Cummings had three RBIs.
The girls beat Red Jacket, 8-5, in an away game Tuesday, May 18. Schoffner, Cummings and Kendall all had two hits apiece. Cummings and Harrian each recorded two RBIs and Madison Sutryk had one. Harrian registered 10 strikeouts throwing the entire game.
The combined softball team shutout Campbell-Savona, 6-0, Monday, May 17. Kirsta Sleve had two hits and two RBIs in the game. Makenzie Cratsley and Sutryk also had an RBI each. Harrian had 10 strikeouts on the mound.

Dundee Track
The Dundee track team hosted an invitational at the school, Friday, May 21.
In the boys competition, Steven Webster was first in the 400 meter dash. Alexander Leonard took the top spot in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Logan Buchanan led the boys in the high jump. Hunter Crofoot paced the boys in the shot put and was fourth in the discus. Tate Hoyt took second in the discus and was third in the shot put. Peyton Boudinot was second in the pole vault. Brady Richardson was third in the 200 meter dash and fourth in the 100 meter dash.
For the girls, Hallie Knapp was first in the discus throw. Kendall Parker was second in the 100 meter dash and the high jump. She was also third in the long jump.

Hammondsport Baseball
The Hammondsport baseball team lost three games last week. They fell to Scio/Friendship 19-6, Thursday, Campbell-Savona, 12-2, Wednesday and Canisteo-Greenwood, 16-4, Monday.

Hammondsport Softball
The Hammondsport softball team defeated Friendship 6-5, Thursday, May 20. The girls also topped Campbell-Savona, 21-4, Wednesday, May 19. The Lakers lost to Canisteo 5-3 on Monday, May 17.

Hammondsport Golf
The Hammondsport golf team hosted Canisteo-Greenwood at Penn Yan Thursday, May 20. The Lakers won 196- 272. Cooper Watson was the medalist with a 43. Ben Cole had a 45 and Gavyn Hann a 48.

Watkins Glen Track
The Watkins Glen boys track team beat Elmira Notre Dame, 71-38, Friday, May 21. The girls lost 71-24.
The team's five seniors (Cale Sutterby, Nick Wilston, Jordan Avery, Briana Hayes and Ray Rider) were honored at the meet.
Watkins had first-place finishes by: Boys: Jordan Avery, 100 meter dash; Johnny VanScoyk, 400 meter hurdles; Cale Sutterby, 200 meter dash; Aidan Maphis, 3,200 meter run; Ray Rider, shot put; Ross Pentz, discus; Nick Wilston, long jump and triple jump; and Jordan Avery, high jump. Girls: Breanna Carl, 400 meter hurdles and Briana Hayes, long jump.

Watkins Glen Tennis
The Watkins Glen tennis team defeated Moravia 3-2, Thursday, May 20.
Tim Clifford, Noah Gardner and Faye Mooney all won their singles matches to clinch the victory.

Seneca Indians Baseball
The combined Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour baseball team beat Notre Dame, 5-2, Saturday, May 22. Daniel Lewis had two RBIs and two hits at the plate. Dominic Fazzary also had two hits. Alex Holmes recorded seven strikeouts on the mound.
The baseball team fell in a doubleheader to Waverly 22-1 and 13-6, Wednesday, May 19. Fazzary had two hits in the second game.

Watkins Glen Softball
The Watkins Glen softball team lost to Spencer-Van Etten 20-0, Wednesday, May 19.

Watkins Glen Golf
The Watkins Glen golf team beat Trumansburg, 188-197, Thursday, May 20. Georgio Fazzary recorded a 40. Ben Swinnerton had a 48, Luke Spahalski a 49, Daniel Ely a 51, and Andrew Hayes a 53.
The golf team defeated Odessa-Montour, 182-225, Tuesday, May 20. Fazzary was the medalist and green jacket winner with a 38.

Watkins Glen Lacrosse
The Watkins Glen lacrosse team lost to Elmira Friday, May 21. The final score was 18-4. Nick D'Alleva scored twice, while Garrett VanOstrand and Silas Farrell each had one goal.
The team also fell to Seton Catholic, 12-7, Tuesday, May 18. Seamus Mooney had three goals, Nick D'Alleva two, and Matt Irwin and Silas Farrell each had one. Connor Novinsky made 29 saves in the cage.

Odessa-Montour Softball
The Odessa-Montour softball team lost to Spencer-Van Etten 18-0, Thursday, May 20.
The softball team also lost to Tioga, 19-0, Wednesday, May 19.

Odessa-Montour Golf
The Odessa-Montour golf team lost to Tioga, 194-207, Thursday, May 20. The top three low scores for Odessa were David Patterson with a 47, Benson Patterson a 48 and Eliza Starkweather with a 50.
