SPORTS RECAP: Week of 6-9-21

Penn Yan Baseball
The Penn Yan baseball team defeated Waterloo, 15-2, Friday, June 4. The Mustangs totaled a season-high 17 hits. Senior Will Steele led the way going 4-for-5. Freshman Reed Bouchard was 3-for-5 and freshman Liam Chapman was 2-for-4 to help lead Penn Yan. Senior Clark Simmons tallied seven strikeouts on the mound.
The baseball team beat Midlakes 4-2, Wednesday, June 2. Brady Bouchard pitched the entire game, striking out 11. Mason Mackerchar doubled and Chapman singled to lead the offense for the Mustangs.
The team also topped Newark, 5-2, Tuesday, June 1. Offensively the team totaled seven hits with Simmons, Tyler Bouchard and Brady Bouchard doubling. Senior Steele added a triple.

Penn Yan Softball
The Penn Yan softball team won once and lost twice last week. On Friday, they narrowly fell to Waterloo 8-7.
The girls beat Geneva, 17-7, Thursday, June 3. Giana Ficcaglia had 11 strikeouts in the game. Kiana Larham had a home run and a double at the plate. Jayden Hollister, Cadence Cummings and Ficcaglia all doubled for the Mustangs.
The softball team fell to Newark, Tuesday, June 1. The final score was 7-4.

Penn Yan Girls Lacrosse
The Penn Yan girls lacrosse team added two wins to their now 11-2 record last week entering the post-season.
The Mustangs defeated Mynderse-Romulus 14-7, Friday, June 4. Scoring for Penn Yan included: Hayley Anderson (five goals and two assists), Grace Ledgerwood (three goals and five assists), Kaley Griffin (three goals and one assist), Makenna Hansen (one assist), Corinne Barden (one goal and one assist) and Avery Castner (two goals). In the goal, Hannah Parsons made 12 saves.
The girls also beat Marcus Whitman 14-9, Wednesday, June 2. Anderson led with seven goals and two assists. Griffin added three goals and one assist, while Castner contributed two goals and one assist. Ledgerwood scored once as did Irelynd Densmore and Taylor Mullins had an assist. Parsons made three stops in the goal.

Penn Yan Boys Lacrosse
The Mustangs won two games and lost one last week.
Against an excellent Canandaigua team, the boys recorded their first loss of the season, 9-3, Saturday, June 5. Penn Yan held Canandaigua (now 14-1) to three goals in the first half. Ayden Mowry scored twice and Carter Earl once in the game. Griffin Emerson registered six saves in the cage.
Penn Yan topped Gananda, 15-4, Wednesday, June 2. Mowry scored four goals and one assist in the game. Devon Gerhardt recorded three goals and two assists. Mekhi Mahan added two goals and two assists. Also scoring were: Teagen Fingar (one goal, one assist), Thomas Barden (one assist), Carter Earl (two goals, one assist), Caden Dixon (one goal, one assist), Jesse Young (one goal), Jayden Reid (one assist) and Oliver Connelly (one goal). Emerson made three saves as did Wil Thompson in the goal.
The Mustangs won over the Marcus Whitman Wildcats, 10-3, Tuesday, June 1. Mowry scored four times, Gerhardt had three goals and three assists. Earl, Brodmann and Mahan all had one goal each in the game. Brodmann and Mahan both assisted as well. Emerson made nine saves.

Penn Yan Track
The Penn Yan track team competed at the Western Finger Lakes Championships, Friday, June 4.
For the girls, Joddie Decker was second in the 2,000 meter steeplechase. Jaina Doyle finished fourth in the 2,000 meter steeplechase. Alexxis Henry took fourth in the pentathlon.
In the boys competition, Dominic Lafferty was first in the pentathlon with a score of 2560. James Tette was second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. The 4x800 relay team took third including: Tette, Carson Nagpaul, David Young and Anthony Wheeler. David Reid was fourth in the pole vault.

Penn Yan Tennis
The Penn Yan tennis team was defeated by Naples 5-0, Wednesday, June 2.
The team beat Marcus Whitman, 5-0, Tuesday, June 1. In singles, Landon Spears, Max Baker and Kyle Wheeler all recorded victories. The doubles teams of Bryan Smith and Eric Fingar, and Alex Reyes-Leon and Delbert Woodard also beat their respective opponents.

Dundee/Bradford Softball
The Dundee/Bradford softball team won against Marcus Whitman, Friday, June 4. The final score was 10-3. The BraveScots put up five runs in the sixth inning. The offensive drive came from a walk by Madison Sutryk, a single by Nikki Peterson, and a groundout by Cheyenne Cummings. Kirsta Sleve and Cambri Harrian each had two hits at the plate. There were 18 stolen bases with Harrian having four.
The softball team had a 7-6 walk-off victory over Honeoye, Thursday, June 3. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the tenth when Makenzie Cratsley singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run. The team had 11 total hits. Harrian and Cratsley each collected three hits.
Addie Kendall shut down Naples, throwing a complete-game victory, 20-0, Wednesday, June 2. Cratsley had four hits in five at-bats to lead the girls. Dundee/Bradford scored 11 runs in the second inning, including a home run by Harrian.
The BraveScots also defeated Avoca-Prattsburgh, 5-4, Tuesday, June 1. Schoffner led the team with three hits in five at-bats. Harrian struck out 10 on the mound.

Dundee/Bradford Baseball
The BraveScots baseball team beat Whitman, 15-4, Friday, June 4. Tyler Spina recorded five RBIs in the game. Shane DeCamp had four and Tyler Stiles two. Hunter Riek had six strikeouts on the mound.
The boys lost to Naples, 5-4, Wednesday, June 2. Spina and Logan Ayers each had two hits in the game. Ayers added two RBIs.
The team had a 0-0 tie with Harley Allendale Columbia after 10 innings, Tuesday, June 1.

Dundee Track
The Dundee track team competed at the Wester Finger Lakes Championship, Friday, June 4.
For the girls, Hallie Knapp was first in the discus event with a 94' 2" throw and fifth in the shot put. Kendall Parker took fourth in the long jump. The girls 4x100 relay team was fifth with runners Lily Hall, Parker, Charlotte Schuerholz and Maya Somerville.
In the boys competition, Logan Buchanan was fourth in the high jump. Hunter Crofoot finished fourth in the shot put. Alexander Leonard took fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Tate Hoyt placed fifth in the discus throw.

Hammondsport Baseball
The Hammondsport baseball team lost three games last week. They fell to Addison, 10-0, Friday; Arkport-Canaseraga, 22-1, Wednesday; and Jasper-Troupsburg, 19-7, Tuesday.

Hammondsport Softball
The Hammondsport softball team improved to 10-3 with four wins last week.
On Saturday, the Lakers beat Prattsburgh, 4-1 on the road. The girls also defeated Addison on Friday, 6-4. In two home games on June 1 and 2, the softball team scored 16 runs each day winning 16-1 and 16-2 against Jasper-Troupsburg and Arkport-Caneseraga.

Seneca Indians Baseball
The Seneca Indians lost to Marathon, 8-3, Thursday, June 3. Daine Butler had two hits in the game. Daniel Lewis had seven strikeouts on the mound.

Watkins Glen Softball
The Watkins Glen softball team fell to Odessa-Montour, Wednesday, June 2. The final score was 21-2.

Watkins Glen Track
The Watkins Glen track team competed at the IAC championships from June 2 to 3.
Nick Wilston was third in the long jump and triple jump. Ray Rider finished fourth in the shot put. Balan Ault was fourth in the steeplechase. Jordan Avery took fifth in the high jump.

Watkins Glen Golf
The Watkins Glen golf team was named the small school south division champion after a fourth-place finish at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference match, Thursday, June 3. Watkins defeated Tioga in the competition to claim the honor.

Watkins Glen Lacrosse
The Watkins Glen lacrosse team fell to Dryden, 7-5, Friday, June 4. Scoring for the Senecas was Silas Farrell (three goals), Nick D'Alleva and Seamus Mooney.
"As a coach, it was really tough to finish the season with another loss," said Nils Watson. "I am happy with the effort put forth by the team and wish all the seniors the best in their future endeavors. This group of guys has been a fun group to work with and I will miss this in the future."
The lacrosse team fell to Notre Dame Tuesday, June 1. The final score was 20-2.

Odessa-Montour Softball
The Odessa-Montour softball team lost to Marathon, Friday, June 4. The final score was 29-6.
The softball team defeated Watkins Glen 21-2, Wednesday, June 2. The girls scored 13 runs in the first inning.
The softball team also fell to Thomas A. Edison, 29-0, Tuesday, June 1.

Odessa-Montour Track
The Odessa-Montour track team competed at the IAC championships from June 2 to 3.
For the girls, Victoria Brewster was first in the 100 meter dash (12.93), first in the long jump (16' 4.75") and third in the 200 meter dash. Keyonna Garrison took first in the high jump with a 4' 10" result. Makenna Keough was second in the long jump. Ida Sidle was second in the shot put.
In the boys competition, Benjamin Campbell was fifth in the 3,200 meter run.
