High school graduations are this week
FINGER LAKES--After a school year that involved many changes for students and teachers at area schools, outdoor graduation ceremonies this week will largely follow a traditional format. Dundee Central School will honor the class of 2021 with a ceremony, Thursday, June 24 at 6 p.m. The commencement will be held on the front lawn of the school. This year there are co-valedictorians, Peyton Boudinot and Makenzie Cratsley. The salutatorian is Haley Jefferson. Penn Yan Central School District plans the high school graduation ceremony for Friday, June 25 at 7 p.m. on the field at the sports stadium. Penn Yan does not name a valedictorian or salutatorian for the class. Hammondsport will recognize the efforts of the senior class with a ceremony, Friday, June 25 at 6 p.m. As usual, the event will be held outside, weather permitting. This year Andrew Hill was named as the valedictorian and Brianna Hill the salutatorian. According to the National Weather Service, the forecast in Dundee on Thursday is sunny with a high near 80 degrees. On Friday in Penn Yan and Hammondsport, the agency predicts mostly sunny weather with a high temperature of 84 degrees. The class of 2021 will receive their diplomas during an outdoor ceremony on the football field in Odessa, Friday, June 25. Odessa-Montour's graduation is set for 6 p.m. The event is open to all but each graduate only has five spots on the field for guests. This year the valedictorian is Megan Adams and the salutatorian is Madison Vogel.
