Unofficial election results are in
TRI-COUNTY AREA--Unofficial election results are in for the Tuesday, June 22 local republican primary races meaning the November general election ballots are beginning to take shape. Results are currently unofficial until absentee ballots are counted. Roughly 2,000 people between Yates, Schuyler and Wayne in Steuben County voted in the election either through early voting, same-day voting or mail-in ballots. In Yates County, 199 ballots were cast in the third legislative district vote where the top four candidates move on to the November election as Republicans. Leslie Church and Carlie Chilson both came in first with 139 votes while Daniel Banach received 116 votes and Mark Morris had 112 to fill out the top four. Sean Ahearn was the first runner-up with 74 votes, while Megan Wilkinson received 61 votes. There were eight write-ins. For the town justice race in Starkey, 97 ballots were cast with Carrie Wood receiving 69 votes and runner-up Stacey Seeley getting 28. For the Town of Wayne in Steuben County, unofficial results had 195 ballots cast in three races. For the town supervisor, William Mahr had 117 votes to 77 for Thomas Dunbar. For the councilperson race, which will see the top two move on, E. David Bauer led with 123 votes and Julie Haar had 102. Michael Haff earned 74 votes and John Walton had 69. For the superintendent of highways, Gary Perz has a 10 vote lead with 100 votes to Douglas Howard's 90. In Schuyler County, the unofficial results listed by the county board of elections show 1,372 resident Republicans having voted in the primary for Schuyler County Sheriff. 788 votes (57.52 percent) went to Kevin Rumsey and 581 votes (42.41 percent) were earned by Breck Spaulding. There was one additional write-in vote.
