Class starts fundraiser for student
HAMMONDSPORT--The Hammondsport Class of 2021 has created an online fundraiser for a classmate that was involved in a serious accident the day before graduation. "His entire class at Hammondsport Central School would like to raise money on this GoFundMe page to help with expenses," the fundraiser page states. "The money [will] be used to help [the] family with traveling expenses for a long healing process, medical expenses, and help on the farm." Thursday, June 24, a parade was planned in Hammondsport for the seniors to celebrate their accomplishments before graduation on Friday. The senior involved in the accident was on the way to the parade and planned to participate with his tractor. He was subsequently airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital. The parade ended with the attending students holding hands behind the fire department to pray for their missing class member. The graduation ceremony also highlighted the support of the district during the recovery process. A "senior spotlight" posted by the school in April said the student planned to join The United States Marine Corps after graduation. Contributions can be made at tinyurl.com/2ypx8xua.
