SPORTS RECAP: Week of 9-22-21

Penn Yan-Dundee Football
The Penn Yan-Dundee football team lost a tough game on the road to Bath, 24-18, Friday, Sept. 17.
Quarterback Carter Earl was 15-for-26 with 229 yards and one touchdown. Nick Slavick had five receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Slavick recorded 12 carries for 40 yards and a touchdown. Kaden LaBar also added a touchdown with three carries for 9 yards.
On defense, LaBar and John Bell each made 10 tackles and had two and one quarterback sack, respectively. Slavick added eight tackles, while Ashtian Dunning and Tyler Bouchard each made seven. Alex Foster, Gabe Hopkins and Anthony Druker all added five tackles with Foster having a fumble recovery and Hopkins a quarterback sack.

Dundee-Bradford Boys Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford boys soccer team fell to Harley-Allendale-Columbia, Thursday, Sept. 16. The final score was 3-0.
The boys beat Bloomfield, 2-1, Tuesday, Sept. 14 in double-overtime. Josep Bustamante and Jakeb Lederman each scored. Aidan Webster assisted once.

Dundee-Bradford Girls Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford girls soccer team lost two games and tied once last week.
The team fell 2-0 to Honeoye, Friday, Sept. 17. Gabrielle Tobiassen-Aasli made nine saves.
The girls ended with a 2-2 tie against Harley-Allendale-Columbia, Wednesday, Sept. 15. Hayden Morrison scored once and assisted once. Madison Hughes also scored. Tobiassen-Aasli stopped 11 shots in the goal.
The soccer team lost to Naples 3-1, Monday, Sept. 13. Kendall Parker scored with an assist by Trisha Edmister. Tobiassen-Aasli made 12 saves.

Dundee-Bradford Volleyball
The Dundee-Bradford lost three games last week.
The volleyball team fell to Mynderse Academy in five games, Friday, Sept. 17. The game scores were 25-14, 25-27, 25-22, 11-25, 25-17. Lily Hall had six aces, 15 assists, nine kills and six blocks. Carlie Baker recorded three aces and 10 kills. Mikayla Schoffner added seven aces and seven kills, while Abby Miller had four kills.
The team battled for five games against Harley-Allendale-Columbia, Wednesday, Sept. 15. The individual scores were: 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22. Baker had three aces, 10 kills and four blocks. Miller landed seven aces and six kills and Mikayla Schoffner had six kills. Hall had 16 assists, 10 kills and six blocks.
Campbell-Savona won in four games, Monday, Sept. 13. The scores were: 25-14, 15-25, 25-21, 25-21. Hall had 14 assists, three aces, three kills and two blocks. Baker recorded four aces, eight kills and two blocks. Miller had five aces and seven kills, while Schoffner added five aces.

Penn Yan Cross Country
The Penn Yan cross country team competed at the Wayne Eagle Cross Country Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 18.
For the boys, James Tette was second in 17:42. David Madorsky was 88th in 24:20.

Penn Yan Golf
The Penn Yan golf team lost to Wayne, Thursday, Sept. 16. The final score was 271-249. Griffin Emerson had the team-low of 46. Cameron Bassage recorded a 50.
The golf team also lost to Pal-Mac, 243-224, Wednesday, Sept. 15. Emerson had a 43 and Oliver Connelly made a birdie on hole one.
The team lost to Midlakes, Monday, Sept. 13. The score was 275-267. Emerson was the medalist with a birdie on number eight.

Penn Yan Boys Soccer
The Penn Yan boys soccer team defeated Marcus Whitman, 2-0, Saturday, Sept. 18. David Reid and Landon Berry each had one goal. Brigham Hansen added an assist.
Goalkeeper Thomas Barden made three saves in the game and was named the Finger Lakes player of the week.
The soccer team also beat Newark, Thursday, Sept. 16. The final score was 2-1. Zackary Townley and Reid each scored. Hansen assisted. Barden made eight saves.
The soccer team shut out Geneva, 5-0, Tuesday, Sept. 14. Scoring for the Mustangs were Hansen (two goals), Owen Bishop, Dylan Hassos and Berry. Assisting were Berry, Townley, Reid and Kaden Steele. Barden made five saves in goal.

Penn Yan Girls Soccer
The Penn Yan girls soccer team lost twice and won once last week.
Against Haverling, they fell 6-0, Friday, Sept. 17. The girls also lost to Palmyra-Macedon, 4-0, Wednesday, Sept. 15.
The team shut out Wayland-Cohocton, 10-0, Monday, Sept. 13. Recording goals were Sierra Harrison (three), Morgan Andersen (two), Vanessa Martinez (two), Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger, Kaley Griffin and Emma Eichenhofer. Also adding assists were Harrison, Miranda-Wiltberger, Griffin, Andersen, Jaelea Tietjen and Mia Banach. Elle Harrison had two saves in the goal.

Penn Yan Tennis
The Penn Yan tennis team defeated Waterloo, 4-1, Friday, Sept. 17. Recording wins were Abigail Garvey (6-0, 6-1), Natalie Koen (6-0, 6-0), Jayden Hollister and Abby Bodine (6-1, 6-2) and Rachael Garvey and Anella Tillman (6-1, 6-0).
The tennis team lost to Mynderse Academy 4-1, Monday, Sept. 13. The win was captured in singles by Abigail Garvey, 6-1, 6-2.

Penn Yan Volleyball
The Penn Yan volleyball team defeated Newark in four games, Thursday, Sept. 16. The match scores were 25-19, 11-25, 25-13, 25-23. Hailey Trank had seven aces, three kills, 11 assists and one block. Jammie Decker recorded one ace, seven kills, two assists and three blocks. Faith Baker contributed two aces, one kill and one assist.
The girls beat Waterloo, 3-0, Tuesday, Sept. 14. Decker had seven kills, six aces and two blocks. Baker added four kills, three aces and one assist. Trank had two kills, one ace and nine assists.

Hammondsport Boys Soccer
The Hammondsport boys soccer team fell to Arkport/Canaseraga, 3-0, Saturday, Sept. 18.
The boys also lost to Avoca/Prattsburgh 8-0, Thursday, Sept. 16.

Hammondsport Volleyball
The Hammondsport volleyball team won two matches last week.
The girls beat Prattsburgh/Avoca, 3-0, Friday, Sept. 17. The game scores were 25-11, 25-18, 25-16. Vivian Kenyon dominated at the service line with 10 aces followed by Holley Kolo with five.
The volleyball team also defeated Belfast/Genesee Valley in five sets 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21, Monday, Sept. 13. At the service line, Emily Starkweather led with five aces. Kolo had 10 kills followed by Kenyon and Danielle Bennett each with seven. Setter Leah Starkweather had 28 setter assists.

Seneca Indians Football
The Seneca Indians football team lost to Tioga, 27-14, Friday, Sept. 17.
Quarterback Cameron Holland was 11-for-18 passing with 162 yards and two touchdowns. Travon Jones had three receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown. Cayden Confer recorded three receptions for 26 years and Adam Pastore had two for 22 yards and a touchdown. Owen Scholtisek also had two catches for 22 yards.
On the ground, Jones ran nine times for 55 yards. Scholtisek had 10 carries for 49 yards. Dominick Fazzary added seven carries for 12 yards.

Watkins Glen Girls Soccer
The Watkins Glen girls soccer team fell to Campbell-Savona, 5-2, Saturday, Sept. 18. Abby Gibson and Katrina Ricca each scored in the game. Goalie Lilly Ameigh made 23 saves.
The girls lost to Odessa-Montour, Friday, Sept. 17. The final score was 4-2. Recording goals were Sasha Honrath and Skye Honrath. Ameigh had five saves.

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour swim team defeated Notre Dame, Tuesday, Sept. 14. The final score was 93-55.
Recording first-place finishes were the 200 medley relay team, Alannah Klemann (200 free and 100 backstroke), Faye Mooney (200 IM and 100 free), Thalia Marquez (50 free and 100 butterfly), Sydney Brubaker (diving), Kendra Fish (500 free) and the 200 free relay team.

Watkins Glen Volleyball
The Watkins Glen volleyball team defeated Newfield, 3-1, Thursday, Sept. 16. Colby Thurston had four aces. Melanie Wysocki recorded four digs in the game.

Odessa-Montour Boys Soccer
The Odessa-Montour boys soccer team lost to Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, 9-0, Thursday, Sept. 16.

Odessa-Montour Girls Soccer
The Odessa girls soccer team defeated Watkins Glen, 4-2, Friday, Sept. 17. Scoring in the game were Hannah Nolan, Tori Brewster, Camille Sgrecci and Lily Halpin had an assist. Keyonna Garrison made six saves.
The girls lost to Addison, 5-1, Wednesday, Sept. 15. Nolan scored on a penalty kick in the contest.

Odessa-Montour Volleyball
The Odessa-Montour volleyball team lost to Newfield, 3-1, Tuesday, Sept. 14. Dominick Elliott had 12 service points, five aces, four kills and one block. Kyleigh Bates added eight service points, three aces, one kill and one dig. Hannah Kinner also recorded five service points and added six assists..
