SPORTS RECAP: Week of 12-8-21

Dundee/Bradford
Bowling
The Dundee/Bradford bowling team faced Bloomfield, Wednesday, Dec. 1. The girls won 5-0 and the boys, 3-2.
For the girls, Cassie Morrissette posted a 573. Abby Miller added a 528 and McKenna Miller a 448.
Joe Nowicki led the boys with a 391. He was followed by Cameron Burke (351) and Brett Watkins (328).
The bowlers competed against Midlakes, Monday, Nov. 29. The girls won 5-0 and the boys lost 5-0.
Morrissette recorded a 442 and Miller had a 431 for the girls. Jaedyn Brewer also contributed a 403.
Burke led the boys with a 366.

Wrestling
The varsity wrestling team competed at the Avoca Duals, Saturday, Dec. 4. The wrestlers finished 2-3 on the day with victories over Avoca and Williamsville.
Against Avoca, Shawn LaBar, Kaden LaBar, Travis Bailey and Marcus Chilson had competitive victories.

Penn Yan
Boys Basketball
The Penn Yan boys basketball team opened the season with a win over Midlakes, Friday, Dec. 3. The final score was 74-52. Brigham Hansen scored 29 points and Griffin Emerson had 18.

Bowling
The Penn Yan bowling team traveled to compete against Marcus Whitman, Tuesday, Nov. 30. The boys won 5-0 and the girls lost 4-1.
Leading for the boys was Connor Anderson with a 739, including a 290 second game. He was followed by Ben Broome (614), Trenton Samatulski (592), Cameron Bassage (587) and Colin Johnson (572).
The girls were led by Anella Tillman with a 521. Andy Kniffen added a 512 and Julia Maldanado recorded a 476.

Wrestling
The Marcus Whitman/Penn Yan wrestling team finished fourth at Avoca, Saturday, Dec. 4. Their record was 3-2, with wins over Dundee, Williamsville and Avoca.
Recording competitive wins against Dundee were: Ty Conover, Jacob Eaves, Cullen Maher, Aiden Smith, David Young, Alec Benson and Mason Peterson.
Williamsville: Maher, Smith, Avery Castner, Young and Benson.
Avoca: Jacob Eaves, Maher, Benson and Peterson.

Hammondsport
Boys Basketball
The Hammondsport boys basketball team fell to Jasper-Troupsburg, 97-42, Friday, Dec. 3. The team also lost to Avoca/Prattsburgh 102-27, Wednesday, and Romulus 63-32, Monday.
Against Romulus, Liam Kressly recorded 14 points. Preston McConnell had five.

Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls varsity basketball team lost to Odessa-Montour 44-41, Saturday, Dec. 4. Hannah Hoerter led with 15 points and Danica Dresser added 12.
The girls lost, 56-38, to Prattsburgh/Avoca, Thursday, Dec. 2. LaZell Locey had 12 points and Rorie Whitcomb, nine.
The Lakers opened the season with a win against Romulus, 37-25, Monday, Nov. 29. Locey recorded 13 points, while Dresser and Hoerter each had 10.

Wrestling
The Avoca-Hammondsport wrestling team hosted the Avoca Duals, Saturday, Dec. 4. The team recorded a victory against Williamson.
Competitive wins were gained by: Peyton Hoad, George Drake, Nevin Davis, Justin Palmer and Jeremiah Robbins.

Watkins Glen
Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team defeated Addison, 54-32, Saturday, Dec. 4. Owen Scholtisek had 14 points, while Bryce Cady and Adam Pastore had 11.
The boys opened the season with a loss to Dryden, 61-50, Friday, Dec. 3. Pastore had 23 points. Mitchell Pike added 13.

Bowling
The Watkins Glen bowling teams lost to Notre Dame, Thursday, Dec. 2. The girls lost 3-1 and the boys 4-0. Alyiah Clink-Bentley recorded the high score of 451 for the girls and Brett Cullen-Pike had the high 416 for the boys.

Odessa-Montour
Boys Basketball
The Odessa-Montour boys basketball team lost to Trumansburg, 63-45, Friday, Dec. 3. Cayden Confer paced the team with 21 points.

Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls basketball team defeated Hammondsport, Saturday, Dec. 4. Keyonna Garrison recorded 18 points in the game to lead the team. Mackenzie Cannon had 14 points and Gina Gavich, six. Cannon also contributed 12 rebounds.
The girls team also defeated Trumansburg, 57-22, Thursday, Dec. 2. Hannah Nolan had 16 points with nine steals. Garrison had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Wrestling
The Odessa-Montour/Watkins Glen wrestling team competed at the Wellsville Invitational, Saturday, Dec. 4. OMWG was fourth overall with 69 points. Wayne won with 198 points.
Dom Fazzary took first in the 160-pound division with a win over Pavilion/York's Robert Haberger by pin in 1:49. Jed Lynch was second in the 152 division, falling to Aiden Hresent in the championship final.
Mark Waterman (138) and Brandon Davis (152) were third with wins in the consolation final, while Tristan Harrington (189) was fourth with a loss. Gabe Williams (145) took fifth.
