SPORTS RECAP: Week of 5-25-22
Dundee-Bradford Softball The Dundee-Bradford softball team defeated Red Creek, 7-0, Friday, May 20. The girls lost to Bloomfield, Wednesday, May 18. The final score was 3-0. The team split a doubleheader with Harley Allendale Columbia, Monday, May 16. The first game score was 4-2, HAC, and the second was 13-4, BraveScots.
Baseball The Dundee-Bradford baseball team played four games last week. They defeated HAC, 20-3, Saturday, May 21. The boys lost to Avoca/Prattsburgh, 7-2, Thursday, May 19. The team fell to Bloomfield, Wednesday, May 18. The final score was 8-0. The BraveScots opened the week with a 16-8 victory over Hammondsport.
Track and Field The Dundee-Bradford track and field team competed at the Wayne-Finger Lakes Championships, Friday, May 20. Top finishers included the girls 4x100 meter relay consisting of Lily Hall, Madison Hughes, Maya Somerville and Kendall Parker who set a school record with 52.95. Hall was also third in the triple jump. Hallie Knapp took second in the discus throw. For the boys, Logan Buchanan took third in the high jump. Hayden Erick was third in the long jump.
Penn Yan Baseball Penn Yan lost their last game of the regular season to powerhouse Pal-Mac by a score of 14-2, Thursday, May 19. The Mustangs were led by the Bouchard brothers who were 3-for-6 at the plate and each recording a hit. Senior Liam Griffiths was also 1-for-1 at the plate to give Penn Yan four hits on the evening. Penn Yan fell to Waterloo, Tuesday, May 17. The final score was 2-0. Sophomore Brady Bouchard threw a complete game no-hitter, recording 13 strikeouts but a walk and 2 hit batters along with an error resulted in the loss for the Mustangs. There were two hits, both by Liam Chapman.
Softball The Penn Yan softball team concluded the regular season with three wins last week. The Mustangs topped Palmyra-Macedon, 5-3, Wednesday, May 18. Giana Ficcaglia recorded 13 strikeouts, while Hailey Trank had a triple at the plate. Also at bat, Leah Prather added a double and Elle Harrison, Julia Maldonado, and Keuka Miranda Wiltberger each had two singles apiece. The girls won over Waterloo, 9-8, Tuesday, May 17. Ficcaglia had 14 strikeouts on the mound and also added two doubles and a home run at the plate. Harrison was 4-for-5 at the plate, and also caught the game-winning ball. Maldonado was perfect at-bat, going 4-for-4. The team also easily defeated Hammondsport, 18-3, Monday, May 16.
Boys Lacrosse The Penn Yan boys lacrosse team fell to Thomas, 15-3, Saturday, May 21. Scoring for Penn Yan were Caden Dixon with two goals and Bryant VanHousen with one. Hunter Sheehan recorded an assist. Griffin Emerson made four saves and Will Thompson had three in the goal. The Mustangs also lost to Wayne, Tuesday, May 17. The final score was 11-9. Dixon recorded four goals and Teagen Fingar added three with one assist. VanHousen and Braden Fingar also both added one goal. Emerson made eight saves in the goal.
Girls Lacrosse The Penn Yan girls lacrosse team lost to Pal-Mac, 8-2, Wednesday, May 18. Avery Castner and Kaley Griffin combined for the Mustang's two goals. Hannah Parsons made five saves.
Track and Field The Penn Yan track and field team competed at the Wayne-Finger Lakes Championships, Friday, May 20. Adriana Rodriguez was first in the girls shot put (33' 7") and discus event with a 114' 4" throw. Cynthia Kriegar was third in shot put. James Tette finished first in the boys 3,200 meter run (10:22.37), 3,000 meter steeplechase (10:17.61) and was third in the 1,600 meter run. Anthony Sciallo placed second in the boys discus throw.
Boys Tennis The Penn Yan tennis team fell to Geneva, 3-2, Thursday, May 19. Recording wins for the Mustangs were Alex Reyes-Leon and Kyle Wheeler.
Hammondsport Baseball The Hammondsport baseball team lost three games last week. The Lakers fell to Scio/Friendship, 11-8, Friday, May 20; Addison, 16-0, Wednesday, May 18 and Dundee/Bradford, 16-8, Tuesday, May 17.
Softball The Hammondsport softball team ended the season with a sectional loss against Avoca-Prattsburgh, Saturday, May 21. The final score was 12-3. Earlier in the week, the team fell to Jasper-Troupsburg/Canisteo-Greenwood and Alfred-Almond.
Watkins Glen Track The Watkins Glen track and field team competed at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference Championships, Thursday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 18. Breanna Carl was fifth in the girls 800 meter run. Ross Pentz was sixth in the boys discus throw.
Odessa-Montour Golf The Odessa-Montour golf team lost to Trumansburg, Tuesday, May 17. The final score was 191-218. O-M was led by David Patterson with a 42.
Track The Odessa-Montour track and field team competed at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference Championships, Thursday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 18. Evelyn Zinger finished fifth in the girls 3,000 meter run. Benjamin Campbell was sixth in the boys 3,200 meter run..
