SPORTS RECAP: Week of 2-1-23

Dundee-Bradford
Boys Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford boys basketball team beat Midlakes, 57-54, Friday, Jan. 27. Leading scorers for the BraveScots were Nick Slavick with 18 points and 11 rebounds, Logan Buchanan with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Cam Rosmier with 10 points.
The team also defeated Addison, 49-40, Monday, Jan. 23. Ryan McTamney led with 13 points. Buchanan recorded 11 points and seven rebounds, while Rosemier had 10 points.

Girls Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford girls basketball team defeated Marcus Whitman, Thursday, Jan. 26. The final score was 49-38. Kendall Parker led with 21 points, eight rebounds and eight steals. Mikayla Schoffner contributed 14 points, 11 rebounds and five steals. Kailey Yeoman added eight points and three steals.

Indoor Track
The indoor track team competed at the Wayne-Finger Lakes Championships, Saturday, Jan. 28. Top-five finishes were recorded by Madison Hughes (second-long jump and third-triple jump), Camden Buchanan (third-long jump and fifth-55m dash), Hayden Erick (fourth-long jump, fourth-triple jump and second-high jump) and Logan Buchanan (third-high jump).

Penn Yan
Girls Basketball
The Penn Yan girls basketball team defeated Geneva, 35-17, Friday, Jan. 27. Corinne Barden had seven points and two rebounds in the game. Taylor Mullins added five points, seven rebounds and three steals. Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger recorded five points and three steals.
The basketball team lost to Waterloo, 70-23, Monday, Jan. 23. Barden scored five points and Hailey Trank had four.

Bowling
The Penn Yan bowling team faced Waterloo, Thursday, Jan. 26. The girls won 3-2, while the boys lost 5-0. Julia Maldonado led the girls with a 545. Anella Tillman had a 488. Colin Johnson paced the boys with a 621.
The bowling teams both defeated Midlakes, Monday, Jan. 23. The girls won 4-1 and the boys won 5-0. Tillman led the girls with a 553. Amenia Samatulski had a 513. Johnson recorded a 653 for the boys. Connor Andersen contributed a 552.

Indoor Track
The Penn Yan indoor track team competed at the Wayne-Finger Lakes Championships, Saturday, Jan. 28. Top-five finishes included Anthony Wheeler (fourth-1,000m dash and fifth-3,200m run), James Tette (first-1,600 meter run (4:51.54), first 3,200m run (10:10.66) and fifth-1,000m dash) and Anthony Sciallo (third-shot put).

Wrestling
The Penn Yan wrestling team competed at the Walt Peterson Memorial Wrestling Tournament, Saturday, Jan. 28. Ty Conover was fourth, Cullen Maher took fifth as did Reed Bouchard, Roark Castner was sixth and Michael Layton finished seventh.

Hammondsport
Boys Basketball
The Hammondsport boys basketball team lost to Avoca/Prattsburgh, 90-42, Friday, Jan. 27. The team also lost to South Seneca 93-48, Monday, Jan. 23.

Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls basketball team lost to Avoca/Prattsburgh, Thursday, Jan. 26. The final score was 50-40. The team won against Scio/Friendship, Tuesday, Jan. 24, 44-34.

Wrestling (Avoca-Prattsburgh/Hammondsport)
The wrestling team hosted the Walt Peterson Memorial Wrestling Tournament, Saturday, Jan. 28. Nathan Young was third, Orien Davis finished seventh as did Peyton Hoad and Jeremiah Robbins. Hudson Cole and Trent Lewis both were eighth. Devin Stamets, Justin Palmer and Dallas Brady were all ninth.

Watkins Glen
Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team lost to Notre Dame, Friday, Jan. 27. The final score was 66-63. Ryan Willett and Jacob Yontz both scored 22 points in the game. Yontz also had 16 rebounds. Joseph Sutterby added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Girls Basketball
The Watkins Glen girls basketball team lost to Notre Dame, 44-43, Friday, Jan. 27. Jenna Solomon paced the team with 13 points. Rachel Vickio had 10 points and Brianna Hatch had eight.

Bowling
The Watkins Glen girls and boys bowling team lost to Waverly, Friday, Jan. 27. The girls fell 4-0, led by Alyiah Clink-Bentley with a 468. The boys lost 3-1 with Corbin Groves leading the team with a 581.

Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour swimming team defeated Southern Cayuga, Friday, Jan. 27. The final score was 84-66. Individual stats were not available at press time.
The swim team won against Elmira, 95-80, Thursday, Jan. 26. First-place finishes were recorded by the 200 medley relay team, Ryan Dean (200 IM), Vincent Ocasio (50 free), Ryan Dean (100 fly), Liam Smith (500 free), the 200 free relay team and Nick DeLong (100 back).

Odessa-Montour
Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls basketball team beat Newfield, 47-34, Friday, Jan. 27. Hannah Nolan recorded 16 points and 10 rebounds with eight steals. Tori Brewster had 12 points and Gina Gavich scored nine.
The girls basketball team won against Jasper-Troupsburg, Tuesday, Jan. 24. The final score was 39-20. Nolan scored 14 points and Gavich had 12.

Boys Basketball
The Odessa-Montour boys basketball team lost to Newfield, 80-37, Friday, Jan. 27. Tyler Malnoske had 10 points.

Wrestling
The Odessa-Montour and Watkins Glen wrestling team lost to Chenango Valley, Thursday, Jan. 26. Competitive wins were recorded by Patrick Croft (189) and Brody Williams (215). Croft had a major decision 8-0, and Williams pinned his opponent in 3:01.
The wrestling team beat Dryden, Tuesday, Jan. 24. The final score was 51-15. Competitive wins were gained by
Williams (pin 0:45), Aidan Summers (pin 3:46), Lucas Hoffman (pin 2:18), Dylan Senecal (decision 12-5),
Brandon Davis (pin 0:22) and Balan Ault (pin 4:12).
