SPORTS RECAP: Week of 2-8-23

Hammondsport
Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls basketball team fell to Addison, 58-32, Wednesday, Feb. 1. Samantha Pratt led the team with 12 points, Danica Dresser added nine points and Rachel Wood had five. Wood and LaZell Locey both had four rebounds in the game.
The Lakers fell to Marcus Whitman 57-37, Monday, Jan. 30. Dresser paced the team with 14 points and Locey recorded 12 points and six rebounds with three blocks.

Boys Basketball
The Hammondsport boys basketball team lost to Campbell-Savona, Thursday, Feb. 2. The final score was 75-39. The team also lost to Mount Morris 75-46, Monday, Jan. 30.

Wrestling (Avoca-Prattsburgh/Hammondsport)
The wrestling team competed at the Section V Class B3 Wrestling Championships, Saturday, Feb. 4. The team was fifth overall with a total score of 94. Tristin Davis (138) was second. Justin Palmer (189) and Jeremiah Robbins (285) were third, while Hudson Cole (110) was fourth. Devin Stamets (110) and Peyton Hoad (126) were both fifth. The top-six wrestlers advanced to the upcoming state qualifier.

Dundee-Bradford
Girls Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford girls basketball team had a big win against HAC, Friday, Feb. 3. The final score was 57-18. Kendall Parker led with 21 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Kailey Yeoman added 15 points, nine steals and three rebounds. Brieonna Bayer recorded 10 points with three rebounds and two steals.
The BraveScots also won against Honeoye, 58-25, Wednesday, Feb. 1. Parker scored 24 points with six rebounds and five steals. Mikayla Schoffner added eight points with 10 rebounds and three steals. Yeoman contributed seven points with eight steals.

Boys Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford boys basketball team won against Campbell-Savona, 64-53, Saturday, Feb. 4. Team high-scorers were senior Nick Slavick with 19 points and 10 rebounds, senior Logan Buchanan with 11 points and senior Ryan McTamney contributing nine points and five assists. Senior Gabe Stiles had seven points and six steals, senior Dylan Monell added six points and Miguel Candela recorded five points.
The basketball team lost to Harley-Allendale-Columbia, Thursday, Feb. 2. The final score was 58-45. Slavick led with 19 points and Buchanan added 13.

Indoor Track
The indoor track team competed at Nazareth College, Saturday, Feb. 4. Top-five finishers included Madison Hughes (third-long jump; third-triple jump; fourth-55 meter dash), Camden Buchanan (second-55 meter dash; second-long jump; second-triple jump) and Hayden Erick (first-high jump 5' 11" and third-triple jump).

Wrestling
The Dundee-Bradford wrestling team competed at the Section V Class B3 Wrestling Championships, Saturday, Feb. 4. The team was eighth overall with 75 points.
Finishing in the top six and advancing to the state qualifier were Gage Machuga (172) with a fourth-place finish. Zachary Grant (132), Jacob Bartlett (189) and Gavin Hall (285) all took fifth. Caden Hill (152), Hayden Erick (160) and Caleb Bartlett (215) were sixth.

Penn Yan
Bowling
The Penn Yan bowling teams defeated Wayne, 5-0, Thursday, Feb. 2
The boys were led by Colin Johnson with a 601. Additional scores included: Jaxon Jensen (517), Connor Andersen (483), Skyler Willoughby (473) and CJ Miller (469).
For the girls, Anella Tillman led with a 629. Julia Maldonado had a 588, Taylor Morse added a 535, Lyanna Shipman had a 463 and Bella Miller contributed a 426.
The boys and girls shut out Romulus, 5-0, Wednesday, Feb. 1. Johnson and Jensen led the boys with a 610 and 570, respectively. For the girls, Maldonado paced the team with a 629. Tillman added a 593.

Boys Basketball
The Penn Yan boys basketball team lost to Marcus Whitman, 65-54, Saturday, Feb. 4. No individual stats were provided.

Girls Basketball
The Penn Yan girls basketball team lost to Palmyra-Macedon, 49-32, Wednesday, Feb. 1. Bailey Cooper had nine points and eight rebounds. Corinne Barden and Breanne Dunning each recorded six points in the game.

Indoor Track
The indoor track team competed at Nazareth College, Saturday, Feb. 4. Finishers in the top five included James Tette (first-3,200 meter run 10:20.91), Kyle Wheeler (third-3,200 meter run), Anthony Wheeler (fourth-3,200 meter run) and Amanda Smith (fifth-3,000 meter run).

Wrestling
The Penn Yan wrestling team competed at the Section V Class B1 Wrestling Championships, Saturday, Feb. 4. The top-six finishers now advance to the state qualifier. For the Mustangs, this included Ty Conover (110), Jayden Reid (145) and Reed Bouchard (285) who all finished fifth. David Young (172) was sixth in the finals match.

Watkins Glen
Girls Basketball
The Watkins Glen girls basketball team lost to Waverly, 51-42, Friday, Feb. 3. Brianna Hatch had 12 points with 10 rebounds and Rachel Vickio added 10 points. Jenna Solomon scored nine points.
The basketball team defeated Edison, 45-42, Tuesday, Jan. 31. Vickio led the team with 20 points. Olivia King had eight points.

Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team fell to Waverly, Thursday, Feb. 2. The final score was 66-42. Jacob Yontz posted 19 points and 17 rebounds. Joseph Sutterby added eight points and Ryan Willett had seven.
The boys basketball team won over Edison, 61-24, Tuesday, Jan. 31. Yontz scored 19 points and had eight rebounds. Sutterby added 13 points.

Bowling
The Watkins Glen bowling teams faced Odessa-Montour, Friday, Feb. 3. The girls won 4-0 and the boys fell 3-1. For the girls, Katie Cook had a 466 and Aubrey Kellogg added a 454. In the boys match, Mykel Cody had the high 534.

Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour swimming team competed against Waverly, Thursday, Feb. 2. The Schuyler Storm won 99-73. Top finishes were recorded by: Liam Smith (200 IM and 500 free), Jeremiah Desrochers (diving) and Jon Spencer (100 breaststroke).

Odessa-Montour
Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls basketball team beat Tioga, 52-30, Friday, Feb. 3. Hannah Nolan paced the Grizzlies with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 8 steals. Reagan Reese added 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Tori Brewster had seven points and five steals.
The basketball team lost to Spencer-Van Etten, Tuesday, Jan. 31. The final score was 40-29. Gina Gavich had 13 points. Nolan added eight with seven rebounds.

Boys Basketball
The Odessa-Montour boys basketball team was beaten by Tioga, 63-48, Thursday, Feb. 2. Tyler Malnoske scored 18 points in the game.
The Grizzlies hosted Spencer-Van Etten, Tuesday, Jan. 31 and won 59-52.

Bowling
The Odessa-Montour bowling team faced Watkins Glen, Friday, Feb. 3. The boys won 3-1 and the girls lost 4-0. Leading the boys were Zachary Rounds with a 528 and Dominick Elliot added a 513. For the girls, Sarah Barr had a team-high of 420.

Wrestling
The Odessa-Montour and Watkins Glen wrestling team competed at the class championship tournament, Saturday, Feb. 4. Lucas Hoffman (118) was second overall. Dana Guild (215) took third and Jed Lynch (160) was fifth. Aiden Summers (285) was also fifth, Tristan Harrington (160) was sixth as was Daniel Coston (138).
