DeNardo wins Watkins mayor position

WATKINS GLEN--The village of Watkins Glen will seat a new mayor and two trustees in April, with the official swearing-in set for April 4.
Democrat Laurie DeNardo took the win from current Deputy Mayor Louis Perazzini, with a vote of 289 to 198. She will serve a four-year term. Democrats Peter Cherock and Margaret Schimizzi topped Republican Jerri-Lynn Chronis for the available trustee seat positions. Cherock earned 338 votes; Schimizzi secured 311; Chronis collected 150 votes. Steven Decker ran unopposed for the position of Village Justice, earning 317 votes.
Around Schuyler County, other races were uncontested. In Burdett, Mayor Dale Walter held his seat as did Trustees Linda Arcangeli and Judith Mangus. In uncontested races in Odessa, Mayor Gerry Messmer returns to office along with Trustees Tom Letteer and Kristine Gardner, who won with write-in votes.
