Penn Yan lacrosse teams advance to final four

The Penn Yan boys and girls lacrosse teams recorded wins Saturday, June 3, in the first round of play for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship. The Mustangs are now in the final four for Class D and will advance to semifinal games.
The boys played again at St. John Fisher College against Section VI's East Aurora. The final score was 8-4. Braden Fingar scored three goals. Carter Earl contributed two goals and two assists. Caden Dixon also added two goals, while Tukker Fisher had one. Bryant VanHousen posted two assists. Will Thompson made nine saves in the goal.
The boys next game is Wednesday, June 7 at Tompkins Cortland Community College against Marcellus. Game time is 3 p.m.

2023 NYSPHSAA Boys Lacrosse Championships Class D
The girls scored 12 points in the first half, Saturday, leading to a 17-3 final score against Eden. The game was played at Clarence high school. Bailey Cooper recorded six goals and two assists in the game. Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger added four goals. Corinne Barden posted two goals and two assists, while Taylor Mullins and Gianna Voigt each had one goal and three assists. Makenna Mullins, Lila Hansen and Miley Andersen all scored one goal. Hansen added two assists. In the cage, Marion Wheeler and Megan Wheeler each had two saves.
The girls semifinal game will be played at Cortland High School, Friday, June 9 at 11 a.m. They will face Bronxville from Section I.
