Festivities begin in Dundee at the Outlaw Speedway. According to Craig “Spazman” Simmons, the “greatest fireworks show on dirt” will explode over Outlaw Speedway on the evening of Friday, June 30. Racing starts at 7 p.m. The $20,000 fireworks show is set to launch during intermission.
Watkins Glen will welcome summer with the opening night of the Summer Concert Series at Clute Park’s Seneca Lake Events Center. Donna and the Mystics will play from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Admission to the concert is free, but donations are appreciated and used to fund future concerts. Fireworks will be launched from Clute Park at about 9:45 p.m., Sunday, July 2.
The Fly-In/Drive-in Breakfast will take place at the Penn Yan Airport from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and will include pancakes, music, a bounce house and airplane rides on Tuesday, July 4.
Events start at noon on July 4 in Branchport with the annual Chicken BBQ. The Fourth of July Parade will be held beginning at 2 p.m. Live music and food trucks will be at the firehouse pavilion area starting at 7 p.m. with fireworks lighting the sky at 10 p.m.
For those who want to keep the celebration going, head to the Hammondsport Fireman’s Carnival, which will be held this year from July 6 through July 8. This year’s event features carnival rides, games, prizes, and traditional carnival food: sausage sandwiches and clams. The Fair concludes on Saturday evening with the annual parade at 6 p.m. and a fireworks show at 10 p.m.
