Dundee celebrates 175th anniversary

DUNDEE--This summer marks the 200th anniversary of Yates County and the 175th year of the village of Dundee. Events this Saturday, July 22, will commemorate both milestones in Dundee.
This celebration will take place throughout the village, with events located at the Seneca Street Park, the Millard Park on Spring Street and Main/Water Street. The day will begin at noon in the Seneca Street Park with an opening ceremony and delivery of a proclamation commemorating the establishment of Dundee, New York.
Celebrating 175 years in the making, will be the opening of the 150th anniversary time capsule. Live music provided by the Yates Concert Series, food and drink, activities and vendors will be located throughout the village. An anniversary parade will take place from Dundee Central School to the Seneca Street Park beginning at 5 p.m. A closing ceremony at the park will conclude the day with the making of a new time capsule.
Multiple mementos to commemorate the celebration will be available for purchase, including a booklet that will highlight the history of Dundee and features community organizations. The book has been developed with excerpts from the 125th and 150th anniversary booklets, the Dundee Area Historical Society and other volunteers.
