Paul’s Place
DUNDEE--The Living Well Mission in Penn Yan started Paul’s Place before COVID and recently re-started the program with plans to add events in Dundee, Rushville and Branchport.
The purpose of Paul’s Place is to relieve caregivers. Described as a kind and compassionate respite, this free program is for people living with memory loss. It currently takes place on the third Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Hamilton St. in Penn Yan. Starting in January, the program will be in Dundee on the second Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. During this time a free lunch is provided and participants receive 1-on-1 volunteer engagement, social conversation, crafts, music, and more.
“Caregivers can drop off their loved ones in a safe environment for four hours and be able to spend that time how they want to,” said Nikki Beechner, community advocate at The Living Well Mission. “We encourage caregivers to relax, shower, shop, and spend the time however they want.”
The Living Well is a secure and respectful place dedicated to assisting the residents of Yates County. If you wish to contribute, their website www.thelivingwellmission.org lists twelve distinct volunteer opportunities, and they accept donations online as well.
