Montour Parade of Bands returns Saturday

MONTOUR FALLS--After an extended absence due to COVID, the Montour Falls Fire Department Annual Festival and Parade of Bands is coming back to Schuyler County. Scheduled for this Thursday through Saturday, June 9 to 11, this will mark the 64th year that the department has hosted the event.
"We are back, that is our motto this year, after three years away because of COVID. It's a lot of work but we are looking forward to it," said Jeff Confer, deputy chief for the Montour Falls Fire Department.
With a chicken BBQ, live bands, a corn hole tournament, bingo, raffles, rides and more Confer said he hopes the community will come out and enjoy the event.
"It's a good community event not only for Montour Falls but all of Schuyler County," Confer said. "I think it's important to a lot of folks, they look forward to it. And it's one of the best parades around."
The event will kick off on Thursday, June 9 with bingo, rides, a bicycle raffle and the band Rust. On Friday, June 10 the chicken BBQ will take place prior to the grounds opening and Nik and the Nice Guys taking the stage. Saturday, June 11 will see the corn hole tournament, BBQ, rides, raffles and finally the parade at 5 p.m. followed by the band Rukus.
"We have gotten plenty of positive feedback from people who are really looking forward (to the bands)," Confer said.
Additional information about the event can be seen on the Village Of Montour Falls Fire Department Facebook page: https://tinyurl.com/montour2022.
