SPORTS RECAP: Week of 10-5-22

Schuyler Storm
Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour swim team defeated Elmira, 105-67, Thursday, Sept. 29. In first place were: the 200 medley relay team, Thalia Marquez (200 free and 500 free), Alannah Klemann (200 IM and 100 back), Faye Mooney (50 free) and the 200 free relay team.
The swim team also won against Lansing, 100-68, Tuesday, Sept. 27. First place finishers included: the 200 medley relay team, Mooney (200 free and 100 free), Kendra Fish (200 IM and 500 free), Marquez (50 free), Skye Cummings (diving), Emily Melveney (100 fly) and the 200 free relay team.

Football
The combined Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour football team defeated Lansing, 20-6, Friday, Sept. 30.
Quarterback Daniel Lewis was 5-for-11 with 105 yards and one rushing and one passing touchdown.
On the ground, Ryan Willett had 14 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown. Bradley Gillis recorded 15 carries for 94 yards and Thomas Snow had seven for 23 yards.
Alex Holmes had two receptions in the game for 93 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Snow led with 15 tackles. Willett and Gillis had four each.

Watkins Glen
Cross Country
Watkins Glen competed at the McQuaid Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 1. Johnny VanScoyk was 79th in 17:56.5, Isaac Hendrickson took 102nd in 18:11.6 and Aidan Maphis was 118th in 18:19.9.

Boys Soccer
The Watkins Glen soccer team won in double-overtime against Odessa-Montour, 2-1, Friday, Sept. 30. Jacob Yontz and Salvatore Purpura both scored. Liam Smith assisted on Purpura's goal. Caleb Bresett had 10 saves in goal.
The Senecas fell to Trumansburg, 4-0, Wednesday, Sept. 28. Bresett made 22 saves in the goal.
The team also lost to Newfield, 5-0, Tuesday, Sept. 27. Goalkeeper Jake Vandereems made 14 saves in the game.

Girls Soccer
The Watkins Glen girls soccer team defeated Newfield, 7-4, Saturday, Oct. 1. Skye Honrath had three goals and three assists in the game. Scoring once were: Sasha Honrath also with two assists, Ava Kelly with one assist, Erin Snow also with one assist and Olivia King. Goalie Lilly Ameigh had nine saves.
The girls fell to Waverly, Thursday, Sept. 29. The final score was 2-1. Skye Honrath and Kelly both scored. Ameigh made 14 saves.
The soccer team won against Candor, 4-1, Tuesday, Sept. 27. Skye Honrath had three goals, while Sasha Honrath had one. Honrath, Kelly and King all had assists. Ameigh contributed four saves in goal.

Volleyball
The Watkins Glen volleyball team competed against Tioga, Thursday, Sept. 29. The team lost 3-0.
The team also fell to Newark Valley, 3-0 and Waverly, 3-1, last week.
Individual stats were not provided.

Odessa-Montour
Boys Soccer
The Odessa-Montour boys soccer team fell to Watkins Glen, 2-1, Friday, Sept. 20. The team lost to Newfield, 6-0, Wednesday, Sept. 28 and tied Tioga, 2-2, Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Individual stats were not provided.

Girls Soccer
The Odessa-Montour girls soccer team defeated Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, 3-2, Thursday, Sept. 29. Hannah Nolan recorded two goals and Tori Brewster had one. Keyonna Garrison made three saves in goal.
The team fell to Waverly, Tuesday, Sept. 27. The final score was 3-2. Nolan contributed two goals with an assist by Brewster. Garrison made 11 saves in goal.

Volleyball
The Odessa-Montour volleyball team fell to Spencer-Van Etten, 3-0, Wednesday, Sept. 28.
Individual stats were not provided.

Penn Yan-Dundee Football
The Penn Yan-Dundee football team moved to 4-0 with a win over Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry, Friday, Sept. 30. The final score was 24-7.
Quarterback Carter Earl was 8-for-16 with 64 yards. He also ran eight times for 68 yards.
On the ground, Nick Slavick had 15 carries for 100 yards, one touchdown and one two-point conversion. Bryant Van Housen added eight carries for 53 yards.
Slavick also contributed 12 tackles on defense. Tony Sciallo made nine tackles and had one quarterback sack. Jaxson Enos added eight tackles, while Hunter Sheehan recorded seven.
Anthony Druker, Ashtian Dunning and Van Housen all had interceptions. Van Housen returned one for a touchdown.
This week, the team gears up to play at Dundee Central School for homecoming.

Penn Yan
Boys Soccer
The Penn Yan soccer team won over Geneva, 1-0, Friday, Sept. 30. David Reid scored on an assist by Landon Spears.
The Mustangs defeated Newark, 2-1, Wednesday, Sept. 28. Reid and Landon Berry both scored. Riley Griffiths had an assist in the game.
The boys tied Campbell-Savona, Monday, Sept. 26. The final score was 1-1. Owen Bishop scored with an assist by Berry.

Girls Soccer
The Penn Yan girls soccer team shut out Sodus, 6-0, Saturday, Oct. 1. Morgan Andersen had three goals, Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger had two and Hailey Hassos one. Assisting were Makenna Mullins, Corinne Barden, Mary D'Abbracci, Vanessa Martinez and Mia Banach. Marion Wheeler had one save in goal.
The team also defeated Newark, 2-1, Thursday, Sept. 29. Scoring were Mullins and Miranda-Wiltberger on assists by Hassos and Barden. Wheeler had four saves.
The team fell to Palmyra-Macedon, Tuesday, Sept. 27. The final score was 5-0.

Girls Tennis
The Penn Yan tennis team won over Marcus Whitman, Thursday, Sept. 29. The score was 4-1. Recording wins were: Rachael Garvey, Adelyn Emerson and Margaret Brown in singles. The doubles team of Anella Tillman and Natalie Koen were also victorious.
The Mustangs fell to Palmyra-Macedon, 3-2, Wednesday, Sept. 28. Tillman won in singles and the team of Margaret Brown and Erin Clancy won in doubles.

Volleyball
The Penn Yan volleyball team defeated Honeoye in three games, Thursday, Sept. 29. The game scores were 25-11, 25-10, 25-12.
The team also won over Dundee, Monday, Sept. 26. The game scores were 25-18, 19-25, 25-17, 25-13. Hailey Trank had nine aces, three kills, 14 assists and four digs. Rosslan Force added 10 aces, six kills and two digs. Alexis Parsons contributed five kills and one assist.

Cross Country
The Penn Yan cross country team competed at Midlakes, Tuesday, Sept. 27.
For the boys, James Tette was first in 17:24.5. Also recording top-ten finishes were Kyle Wheeler and Anthony Wheeler in sixth and seventh with times of 19:33.9 and 19:39.3.
In the girls race, Madison Bishop was 15th for Penn Yan with a time of 28:33.5.

Golf
The Penn Yan golf team lost to Naples, 217-249, Thursday, Sept. 29. Will Thompson and Joshua Morse led the team with a 44 and 49, respectively.
Penn Yan won over an incomplete HAC team, Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Dundee-Bradford
Boys Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford boys soccer team shut out Honeoye, 2-0, Friday, Sept. 30. Miguel Candela and Nathan Kiskaden scored with an assist by Aiden Monell.
The team fell to Naples, Wednesday, Sept. 28. The final score was 5-1. Scoring statistics were not provided.
The boys fell to HAC, 7-0, Monday, Sept. 26.

Girls Soccer
The Dundee-Bradford girls soccer team lost to Bloomfield, 5-1, Thursday, Sept. 29. No stats were provided.
The team fell to Avoca/Prattsburgh, 3-1, Tuesday, Sept. 27. Madison Hughes scored on an assist by Kendall Parker. Ellie Fleet had eight saves in goal.

Volleyball
The Dundee-Bradford volleyball team defeated South Seneca in four games, Thursday, Sept. 29. The scores were 25-13, 17-25, 25-23, 25-7. Individual stats were not provided.
The team fell to Penn Yan in four games, Monday, Sept. 26. Brieonna Bayer recorded seven kills and Lily Hall had eight assists.

Cross Country
The Dundee-Bradford cross country team competed at Newark, Thursday, Sept. 27. There was an official timing issue that only gave place finishers. Devon Grandall was 28th, Bryten Dunham was 33rd and Braedyn Fisher was 38th for the boys.
In the girls race, Cheyenne Grandall was ninth and Marley Duffy took 14th.

Hammondsport
Boys Soccer
The Hammondsport boys soccer team lost to Alfred-Almond, 3-2, Saturday, Oct. 1. Jakob Mueller and TyChristopher Ritter both scored with assists by Alex Brown and Mueller.
The team lost to Canisteo-Greenwood, Thursday, Sept. 29. The final score was 1-0.
The Laker fell to Campbell-Savona, 3-2, Tuesday, Sept. 27. Ritter and Mueller both had goals in the game.

Girls Soccer
The Hammondsport girls soccer team lost to Campbell-Savona, 3-0, Friday, Sept. 30. LaZell Locey made eight saves in goal.
The team also lost to Jasper-Troupsburg, 2-0, Wednesday, Sept. 28. Locey recorded six saves.

Volleyball
The Hammondsport volleyball team lost to Campbell-Savona, Friday, Sept. 30. The game scores were 22-25, 16-25, 19-25.
The team lost to Addison, Wednesday, Sept. 28. The scores were: 21-25, 26-24, 17-25, 25-18, 4-15.
The Lakers also lost to Fillmore in four games, Monday, Sept. 26.

Cross Country
The Hammondsport cross country team competed at the McQuaid Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 1. For the boys, Isaiyah Ali was 246th in 20:04.3. Blake Wright was 290th in 20:35.3. Colin White finished 389th with a 22:51.0.
For the girls, Emmy O'Neill was 19th in 20:02.0. Abriana Campbell took 335th in 27:22.7..
